The Sociedad Fabiana Española has presented a new edition of Fernando de los Ríos’s ‘El sentido humanista del socialismo’ at the University of Granada’s Faculty of Law. The publication includes a preliminary study by José Antonio Montilla Martos.
The Universidad de Granada figured in Fernando de los Ríos’s professional life: he held a professorship there and taught. The Sociedad Fabiana Española presented a new edition of ‘El sentido humanista del socialismo’ at the Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad de Granada.
De los Ríos is considered one of Spain’s most influential figures in humanist and reformist socialism. The edition brings back the thought of a leading figure in that tradition.
UGR rector Pedro Mercado chaired the event. The university’s former rector, Pilar Aranda Ramírez, took part as vice-president of the Sociedad Fabiana Española. José Antonio Montilla Martos wrote the preliminary study.
Inmaculada Cano Mercado, responsible for Fundación Unicaja in Granada, attended on behalf of an organisation that collaborated on the publication. RUSSPAIN has separately covered university links in its report on Spanish-Chilean academic ties.
