Ernest Urtasun and his two siblings hold the bare ownership of a farmhouse in the Montseny natural park. Their father holds its usufruct and administers the rental, information from property records.

The farmhouse has a private 6-by-12-metre pool and sits on an estate of more than two hectares in the Montseny natural park. Its rental generates income for the family. Property records separate ownership from the right to use the house and manage its rental.

Ernest Urtasun and each of his two siblings hold one third of the bare ownership, information from information from the Land Registry obtained by OKDIARIO. Their father, Xavier Urtasun Deulofeu, holds 100% of the usufruct and manages the rental. The siblings received their shares through a legacy; their father's usufruct was registered as a pre-legacy.

The two-storey masia has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with room for up to nine guests. Its online listing describes a garden with a barbecue and a croquet pitch. A reservation requires a 30% payment through Bizum as a booking deposit; the balance is due before the keys are handed over. Catalonia's tourism structure is set out in Decree 75/2020. For applicable entire-home tourist stays of 31 days or less, requirements include a habitability certificate and municipal planning compatibility. Designated municipalities also require an urban-planning licence; occupancy is capped at the authorised capacity or 15 people. Later planning rules cover 262 municipalities. Where those provisions apply, they require prior authorisation for five years, renewable for equal periods, and set a maximum ratio of 10 tourist dwellings per 100 residents.

Urtasun is Spain's Culture Minister and a Sumar spokesperson. In October 2026, Comuns ratified him as number two on its Barcelona list for the Frente Amplio, with Ada Colau heading the slate. EFE reported that the designation received 94.1% approval at the party's extraordinary national council on October 17. The general election was scheduled for November 29, 2026. Urtasun served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2023 and became culture minister in November 2023. Political coverage of Pedro Sánchez's government has also included Milei's migration accusation, a separate matter from the property records.

The family's history also reaches back to the Spanish Civil War. Jesús Urtasun Sarasíbar, Ernest Urtasun Domènech's paternal grandfather, served in the Arapiles Mountain Battalion No. 7 and was seriously wounded on the Guipúzcoa front on June 3, 1937, according to an earlier OKDIARIO report. The Boletín Oficial del Estado recorded that he received the Medal for Suffering for the Fatherland. It also recorded a lifelong pension of 12.50 pesetas a month, starting October 1, 1937.

Jesús Urtasun Sarasíbar lived in Estella in Navarra. His brothers Nicanor and Francisco also fought on the rebel side. Navarra's combatant records say Nicanor died during the war. A 1980 notice in the Boletín Oficial del Ministerio de Defensa later listed Jesús as a recipient of the Cross for Constancy in Service, in the category of permanently disabled war veterans. The Diario Oficial del Ejército listed him under the Barcelona Provincial Headquarters for Disabled Veterans.

Jesús married Carmen Deulofeu, and they had two children, María Amparo and Xavier. Xavier joined the Partit Socialista Unificat de Catalunya (PSUC) and worked in banking and business. He had three children. Ernest was one; Eduard and Amanda were his siblings. Jesús died on July 9, 2005, aged 88, in San Celoní, in Barcelona province.
