Spanish authorities continue to strengthen road safety measures. By the end of this year, up to 122 new speed monitoring cameras are expected to be installed across the country. A number of them have already been activated since September 1, including some in Andalusia.
In the latest rollout in this autonomous community, eight new devices have been installed. Seven monitor speed over extended stretches, while another is a fixed camera. Special attention is being paid to busy roads where the risk of accidents is particularly high.
One of the new complexes has been placed on the Granada bypass (GR-30), monitoring vehicle speed between kilometers 11.9 and 10 in the direction of Jaén. The area under surveillance runs from exit 11 (Avenida de la Constitución and the La Chana district) to exit 9 (direction Málaga and A-92G). The speed limit here is 90 km/h, and traffic flow remains consistently high. The camera is already recording speed violations.
Besides Granada, new cameras have also been installed on other key roads in Andalusia. In Málaga, a stationary radar has been placed at kilometer 4.5 on the A-7052, counting down in kilometers. On the N-340 in Cádiz, a monitored section runs between kilometers 80.64 and 79.4. Another section in Málaga spans kilometers 8.9 to 5.6 on the A-377. In Cádiz, a camera on the A-7 covers kilometers 1,106.29 to 1,107.54 in the ascending direction, while on the A-48, monitoring runs from kilometer 5.58 to 4 in the descending direction. There is also monitoring on the A-7 in Cádiz between kilometers 1,109.35 and 1,107.34.
Granada previously operated cameras that stood out for the number of violations recorded in 2024. According to the motorists’ association, the highest number of fines was issued at kilometer 893 of the A-7 highway—5,308 cases. At kilometer 267 of the A-92, there were 5,004 violations, and at kilometer 183 of the same route—4,082. Two other sections—kilometer 919 of the A-7 and kilometer 239 of the A-92—were also among the leaders in fines issued.
The installation of new cameras aims to reduce the number of accidents and improve driver discipline. Authorities emphasize that special attention is given to the busiest and most accident-prone sections.
