Ford Rolls Out BlueCruise to New Models: Hands-Free Driving to Reach Even More Europeans

BlueCruise Technology Expands: Now Available in Puma, Kuga, and Ranger — What Will Change for Drivers?

Ford is expanding BlueCruise capabilities across the European market. By 2026, the system will be integrated into Puma, Kuga, and Ranger models. This new technology will allow hands-free highway driving. Find out how your driving experience will change as early as this spring.

Ford has announced a major expansion of its innovative BlueCruise system, which allows drivers to operate their vehicles on highways hands-free. Starting in spring 2026, the technology will be available to owners of the new Puma, Puma Gen-E, Kuga, and hybrid Ranger models. All these vehicles will come equipped with a special driver assistance package, providing access to advanced automation features on European roads.

Since BlueCruise debuted in Europe—when the system was first integrated into the Mustang Mach-E—the technology has quickly gained popularity. According to the automaker, Ford and Lincoln owners worldwide have already logged more than 888 million kilometers using this service on highways. This extensive track record demonstrates a high level of trust in the system and strong demand among drivers.

In 2023, BlueCruise became the first system of its kind to receive official approval for use on European roads, starting in the United Kingdom. Today, the technology is certified in 16 European countries, making it the most widespread solution of its kind on the continent. Drivers can use BlueCruise on over 135,000 kilometers of highways designated as Blue Zones. For example, this allows you to drive through six countries—from Stockholm to Rome—and spend more than 25 hours behind the wheel without touching it.

The BlueCruise system combines intelligent adaptive cruise control with radar and camera functions to manage steering, acceleration, braking, and maintain a safe distance. On designated road sections, the driver can take their hands off the wheel as long as they remain attentive to the road. A special camera monitors head position and gaze direction—even if the driver is wearing sunglasses—to ensure this. This approach provides an added layer of safety and control.

With BlueCruise expanding to new models, Ford aims to bring advanced technology to more drivers across Europe. The company emphasizes that each model is individually tuned to deliver the same high levels of comfort and safety, regardless of the vehicle chosen. Details on pricing and subscription terms will be announced closer to the sales launch.

The introduction of BlueCruise in new models reinforces Ford’s leadership in automated and digital mobility solutions. With this technology set to appear in Puma, Kuga, and Ranger hybrid models, highway journeys are expected to become even more convenient and safer for thousands of European drivers.
