On January 5, 2026, Seville will once again host the traditional Parade of the Magi (Cabalgata de Reyes Magos), organized by the cultural society Ateneo de Sevilla. This historic procession annually transforms the city streets into a river of light, music, and festive atmosphere.
Route changes
In 2026, the parade route has been modified due to renovation work in the city center. The procession will start at 16:30 from the University of Seville (Palos de la Frontera street) and pass through the following key points: Glorieta de San Diego, Avenida del Cid, Plaza Don Juan de Austria, Menéndez Pelayo, Recaredo, María Auxiliadora, Ronda de Capuchinos, Muñoz León, Resolana, Feria, Correduría, Plaza de Europa, Trajano, Plaza del Duque de la Victoria, Campana, O’Donnell, Plaza de la Magdalena, Murillo, San Pablo, Reyes Católicos, Puente de Isabel II, Plaza del Altozano, San Jacinto, Esperanza de Triana, República Argentina, Plaza de Cuba, Asunción, Virgen de Luján, Glorieta de las Cigarreras, Puente de Los Remedios, Glorieta de los Marineros Voluntarios, Paseo de las Delicias, and Avenida de Roma. The finish line is planned at the starting point—by the university.
Visual concept and main characters
The visual symbol of the 2026 celebration is a work by artist Fernando Vaquero called “Illusión.” The honorary role of the Estrella de la Ilusión (Star of Illusion) will be performed by 19-year-old Claudia Herrero Ruiz Mateos, who will lead the procession and illuminate the way for the Magi.
Parade participation
Participation in the parade includes paid seats on floats. The cost for a child is about €300, which includes the costume and a portion of the candies to be thrown. For accompanying Bedouin characters, the fees are: regular Ateneo participants—€90 per year, guests—€210 plus a costume deposit of €60.
Royal Herald
On January 4, the Royal Herald travels through the city, officially announcing the arrival of the Magi and receiving the city keys from the mayor. During this event, the last letters with children’s wishes are collected. In 2026, the Herald’s route has also been altered due to renovation works.
Festive Spirit Ahead of the Holiday
Before the parade, Seville is filled with a festive spirit: fairs pop up in city squares, traditional nativity scenes are on display, and both the skating rink at Torre Sevilla and the Setalandia amusement park welcome visitors.
History and Preparation
The tradition of the Three Kings Parade in Seville dates back to 1918 and was founded by the cultural society Ateneo de Sevilla. Preparations for the procession take several months and include designing the floats and selecting key participants. The parade brings together thousands of locals and visitors, becoming the highlight of the New Year festivities.
