The August Fair in Málaga in 2025 reaffirms its status as one of Spain’s main summer events, generating unprecedented excitement. Ahead of the festivities, during the first weekend of the celebration from August 15 to 17, demand for train tickets to the city has risen by 35% compared to the previous week. This surge is evident both regionally and nationally. The highest increase in passenger traffic has been recorded from major cities: trips from Madrid are up by 32%, and from Barcelona by 31%. The Andalusian route is also highly popular: the number of travelers from Seville has grown by 21%, highlighting the convenience and popularity of rail service within the region.
The official opening ceremony of the fair will take place in the evening on Friday, August 15, starting with the traditional Cabalgata Histórica procession. The highlight of the night will be a spectacular drone and fireworks show that will light up the skies over Málaga at midnight. The following day, Saturday, the program continues with one of the celebration’s most heartfelt moments — the pilgrimage to the Basílica de la Victoria, featuring the traditional floral offering. This year, the ceremony will be led by renowned TV presenter Toñi Moreno. That same evening, Málaga writer Javier Castillo will deliver the official pregón speech, followed by the lighting of the fairground complex.
During the day, the epicenter of celebrations shifts to the historic city center. Streets and squares, including Plaza de la Constitución and plaza Marqués de Larios, come alive with music and performances. Locals and visitors, many dressed in traditional flamenco attire, revel in the unique atmosphere, local cuisine, and open-air dancing.
As night falls, the festivities move to the Recinto Ferial del Cortijo de Torres fairgrounds. Here, over 120 casetas open their doors to everyone, offering dancing, dining, and free concerts. In 2025, popular artists such as Camela, Merche, Chambao, and Mojinos Escozíos will take the stage at the fair. As always, flamenco holds a special place in the program, with daily performances and thematic shows dedicated to the art form.
Organizers have planned entertainment for all ages. For young people, free sets by local DJs will be held every night at the Explanada de la Juventud, kicking off with ‘los 40 Urban Session Málaga.’ The youngest guests are also in for a treat: the Caseta Municipal Infantil del Real and Plaza de la Merced will offer daily programs featuring theater, puppet shows, magic acts, and other activities for children.
