While the royal couple and their daughters attended the Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony, the infantas Elena and Cristina chose to skip the official event. Instead, the sisters went on a private trip, opting for a cultural program in Burgos. Joining them on this short journey were well-known actor Antonio Resines and his wife, producer Ana Pérez-Lorente, a longtime friend of the infantas.
The group visited the main landmarks of the Castilian city: the Museum of Human Evolution and the archaeological excavations in Atapuerca. This unique site, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, drew the attention of the distinguished guests. They explored the scientific exhibits with genuine curiosity, including the famous skull known as Miguelón. It’s worth noting that, not long before, these same sites were visited by Science Minister Diana Morant, highlighting their national importance.
This was the sisters’ second joint public appearance in a short period of time, but this time it came as a complete surprise. Previously, they were seen together at the celebration of the national flag in the Madrid town of Torrejón de Ardoz. On that occasion, the infantas showed impeccable elegance in their mid-season outfits, but for their trip to Burgos, they opted for a much more casual style. Both sisters wore jeans and sneakers, creating a relaxed and informal look far removed from strict protocol. Infanta Elena, true to her habit, completed her outfit with a hat.
The sisters share a warm friendship with Ana Pérez-Lorente since their school days. They studied together at the prestigious Santa María del Camino school in Madrid, and their relationship has remained strong over the years. Infanta Elena is especially close to the producer; the two are often seen together at various events, both public and private. For example, last year they warmly greeted each other at the funeral of the sister of renowned designer Lorenzo Caprile.
Antonio Resines himself confirmed that his wife and the infantas are close friends and keep in regular contact. Interestingly, the actor has also developed good relations with the royal family, particularly with Queen Sofia. He recalled that she was among the first to inquire about his health when he was in critical condition in intensive care in 2022. During that difficult time, he also received words of support from King Felipe, Queen Letizia, and both infantas.
