The Venice International Film Festival (Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica), founded in 1932, is not only the world’s oldest film festival but also one of the key events in the global fashion calendar. Each year, for ten days, the city on the water becomes a magnet for top-tier stars. Among them are always Spanish celebrities, whose appearances on the red carpet attract the attention of the press and fashion critics.
Penélope Cruz, one of the most renowned Spanish actresses on the international stage, is a regular at the festival. In 2022, she chose a Chanel dress for her appearance, featuring black and pink lace. The year before, in 2021, the actress received the prestigious Coppa Volpi in a silver gown from the same French fashion house. The dress, with its boat neckline, corset bodice, and voluminous skirt, became one of the most talked-about looks of the ceremony.
Supermodel and TV presenter Nieves Álvarez is also a frequent guest at the festival. In 2023, she appeared in a white dress by Pronovias, reminiscent of a wedding gown, with embroidery and an asymmetric detail. The previous year, the model opted for a figure-hugging, earthy-toned dress with a satin sheen from Alberta Ferretti, showcasing her stylistic versatility.
Actress Úrsula Corberó attended the festival only once, but her appearance in 2024 was significant. True to her bold style, she chose a red dress by Bottega Veneta, adorned with feathers and fringe, completing the look with gold sandals and Cartier jewelry.
Ester Expósito dazzled twice on the red carpet in Venice. She made her debut in 2020 wearing a white slip dress by Etro with thin straps and a high slit. In 2021, the actress caused a sensation in a semi-sheer green dress from Atelier Versace. Creating this embroidered gown with a feathered train required over 1,900 hours of handwork.
Georgina Rodríguez, who made her festival debut in 2018, has attended four times since then. One of her most memorable appearances was in 2023, when she wore a red dress by Vetements featuring a heart-shaped neckline and mermaid silhouette reminiscent of Julia Roberts in the film ‘Pretty Woman.’
Actress and dancer María Pedraza attended the event for the first time in 2022 and returned the following year. Both times she opted for black. First, it was a deep-neckline dress by Armani, followed by a Bardot-cut, mermaid silhouette gown from Alexandre Vauthier.
Top model Eugenia Silva has been a regular at the festival since 2018, frequently appearing on lists of the most stylish guests. Her looks combine elegance with striking details. For example, in 2023, she went for a strapless black dress by Armani Privé, complemented by a voluminous stole covered in pink feathers.
Actress Rocío Muñoz Morales, who holds dual citizenship and builds her career in Italy, has made several appearances at the film festival. In 2022, she even took the stage as the ceremony’s madrina. In 2024, she chose a two-tone look from Armani Privé, reaffirming her commitment to this stylistic choice for the Venice festival.
A new generation of Spanish talent is also making its mark. In 2024, Clara Galle was seen on the red carpet in a red pantsuit with an asymmetrical top, while Nicole Wallace wore a lace-trimmed slip dress by Pinko.
Nawja Nimri has attended the festival only once so far. The actress stayed true to her avant-garde style, opting for a black tulle dress with sheer panels and ruffles, complemented by matching sunglasses.
