Since the beginning of 2025, 55% of all Renault cars sold in Spain have been manufactured at the company’s plants in Valladolid and Palencia. This amounts to nearly 28,000 vehicles, highlighting the importance of Spanish production sites for the brand.
Spain has become a global hub for Renault’s hybrid technologies. Five out of the brand’s seven hybrid models are produced at local factories: Captur and Symbioz are assembled in Valladolid, while Austral, Espace, and Rafale are manufactured in Palencia. This concentration of production enables the company to respond more quickly to market demands and reduce logistics costs.
Local manufacturing also helps reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation and supports the development of the country’s industrial sector. This has a positive impact on Spain’s economy and social sphere.
The most popular Renault produced in Spain was the Captur—over 12,000 of these cars were registered in the first seven months of 2025. It is followed by the Austral with nearly 6,500 units, Symbioz with about 4,800, Rafale with almost 2,800, and Espace with more than 1,500 vehicles.
All these models feature Renault’s E-Tech hybrid technology. This system provides efficient and quiet driving, allowing the vehicles to run in electric mode up to 80% of the time in urban settings without recharging. As a result, fuel consumption is reduced by around 40%.
Hybrid vehicles account for 44% of Renault’s total sales in Spain, significantly higher than the market average of 18%. Renault holds the second place among all brands in the country by hybrid sales volume.
In recent years, the factories in Valladolid and Palencia have undergone extensive modernization. The introduction of artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and advanced electronics has improved production quality and efficiency, while also supporting carbon emission reduction goals.
In Valladolid, production of C-segment vehicles, including the Symbioz model, has been expanded. This required enhanced quality control and automated processes using digital solutions for real-time monitoring.
Palencia produces three C- and D-segment models—Austral, Espace, and Rafale. The factory has upgraded its equipment, implementing advanced robotics, connectivity, and predictive analytics technologies. The launch of Rafale marked a significant milestone, reinforcing Palencia’s reputation as a hub for premium hybrid vehicle production.
