KGM Musso EVX Electric Pickup: An Unexpected Player in the Spanish Market

Could Musso EVX redefine commercial vehicles — how close are we to a revolution, what changes are on the horizon, and what surprises is the industry preparing

The KGM Musso EVX has surprised the Spanish market: an electric pickup offering both rear and all-wheel drive with more than 200 hp. This model sets new standards for professionals. Discover what sets it apart from the competition.

The arrival of the KGM Musso EVX on the Spanish market has truly challenged traditional views of commercial vehicles. This electric pickup, designed for professional use, has the potential to change how work vehicles are approached amid tightening environmental regulations and rising fuel prices. For many companies and private entrepreneurs, it could become not just an alternative, but a real tool for saving costs and boosting efficiency.

Unlike traditional diesel models, the Musso EVX offers not only eco-friendliness but also practicality: daily routes rarely exceed its driving range, and overnight charging at your own base solves the infrastructure issue. This approach could be vital for those seeking a balance between modern technology and real business needs.

Design and dimensions

At first glance, the Musso EVX looks like a massive vehicle, yet its 5.16-meter length and 1.34-meter cargo bed make it well-suited even for city use. Its maneuverability is pleasantly surprising: despite its size, parking in tight garages is no problem. The signature front end stands out with eight LEDs and bright red tow hooks, which not only add style but also serve a practical purpose.

The exterior details emphasize the vehicle’s utilitarian purpose: plastic cladding on the arches and sills, hidden steps in the rear bumper for easy access to the cargo bed, and a reinforced tailgate that can hold up to 150 kg. The rhino symbol on the rear pillar alludes to the Korean origins of the Musso name. Off-road capabilities are impressive: an approach angle of 20.2°, ground clearance of 18 cm, allowing for confident driving on rough terrain.

Interior and Comfort

The Musso EVX’s cabin defies stereotypes about commercial pickups. High-quality materials are used throughout, and the finish matches that of passenger cars. A dual 12.3-inch digital display gives the interior a modern touch, while the ergonomics are tailored for long hours behind the wheel. The double cab version offers ample space for second-row passengers, with generous legroom and headroom even for tall occupants.

The rear seats can slide forward and recline up to 32°, a rare feature in this segment. Depending on the trim level, heated seats and wireless smartphone charging are available. The base version includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, which is especially important for today’s users.

Technical Features

The Musso EVX is available in two versions: rear-wheel drive (2WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD). Both models feature a BYD LFP battery with a capacity of 80.6 kWh, supporting fast charging up to 120 kW. The rear-wheel drive version delivers 207 hp and 339 Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 420 km. The AWD model uses two electric motors—one on each axle—which increases total torque to 630 Nm and allows for up to 379 km of range without recharging.

The dynamics of the Musso EVX are not particularly sporty, but the performance is more than sufficient for work tasks. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8 seconds, and the average energy consumption under the WLTP cycle is 26 kWh per 100 km. An interesting feature is the automatic body-leveling system under load: special sensors and shock absorbers adjust the height of the rear depending on the weight of the cargo.

Price and competitors

The starting price of the Musso EVX is 35,500 euros for the 2WD version and 38,500 euros for AWD. For legal entities and individual entrepreneurs exempt from VAT, the price can drop below 30,000 euros, making this model one of the most affordable in the electric pickup segment. In the Spanish market, there are few direct competitors: the Maxus T90 with rear-wheel drive costs about the same but doesn’t offer all-wheel drive. Upcoming models from Toyota and Isuzu promise a shorter range and significantly higher prices.

The Ford Ranger PHEV, while not fully electric, is also less affordable and accessible than the Musso EVX. KGM is banking on an extended warranty: 7 years or 150,000 km for the vehicle and a record 10 years or 1 million kilometers for the battery. This approach could attract those seeking long-term business solutions.

Practical considerations

The Musso EVX is aimed at those who value the combination of modern technology and real-world utility. Its electric platform reduces operating costs, while the thoughtful design streamlines daily tasks. It’s important to note that this model is not related to the diesel Musso Sports: they have different platforms and purposes. The Musso EVX is based on the Torres EVX crossover, which explains its atypical ride comfort and handling for a pickup.

As environmental regulations tighten and interest in electric vehicles grows, the arrival of the Musso EVX could mark the beginning of a new era for commercial vehicles in Spain. The model has already attracted companies operating in urban and suburban areas, where daily mileage doesn’t exceed 400 km and the option to recharge overnight is a decisive factor.

KGM is a South Korean automaker known for its SUVs and commercial vehicles. In recent years, the company has been actively investing in electric technologies, focusing on affordable and practical solutions for the European market. The Musso EVX is the brand’s first fully electric pickup, aimed at professionals and small businesses. Thanks to its partnership with Chinese giant BYD, KGM has managed to offer a competitive battery and modern platform, elevating its presence in the commercial electric vehicle segment.
