Cristina Pedroche Reveals Foot Health Secret After Three Years of Wearing Barefoot Shoes

Forget Foot Pain: Cristina Pedroche Shares a Revolutionary Method

The well-known TV presenter is once again in the spotlight. She shared her personal experience, focusing on health and well-being. Discover her unconventional approach to choosing footwear.

After the birth of her second child on July 17 of last year, TV presenter Cristina Pedroche disappeared from social media for a while, devoting herself to her family. Her recent return was marked not only by photos highlighting the natural postnatal period, but also by an active discussion on a topic that concerns many—foot health. The entrepreneur once again raised the issue of the benefits of special toe separators and so-called ‘barefoot’ shoes, which she has been loyal to for several years.

In one of her posts, Pedroche, dressed in pajamas, spoke about her daily life as a mother and the workouts she now has to squeeze in whenever she finds a free moment. “The time I would spend changing into sportswear, I’d rather use for another set,” she explained, adding that she now has to make the most of every minute. In the photo, followers noticed toe separators, which sparked a flood of questions about how to start using them. Switching to anatomically correct footwear may seem simple, but as the Madrid celebrity emphasized, there is no place for haste here—a proper transition period is important.

Kristina referred to the recommendations of her physiotherapist, Jesús Serrano, founder of the Improve clinic and author of the book “Salud a tus pies,” to explain to her followers how to properly and safely switch from regular shoes to “barefoot” models. She shared that she uses toe separators during workouts or household chores, but never when at rest or asleep. This method helped her restore the natural condition of her feet, which had been lost after years of wearing tight and rigid shoes. At one point, she was even prescribed orthopedic insoles for those narrow shoes. Now, after three years of consistently wearing barefoot shoes, the discomfort has completely disappeared. It all started due to the onset of a bunion, and fortunately, she quickly realized that the root of the problem was regular footwear.

According to specialist Jesús Serrano, the first step is to recognize that shoes should match the shape and size of your foot. He advises choosing models with an anatomical last, a thin, flexible, and completely flat sole. However, the expert warns: you should start gradually, with movements that do not require too much effort from your feet. There are even models with transitional insoles—thicker or with a slight heel lift—as well as anatomical options with a 1-2 centimeter sole, suitable for long walks or travel.

Next, as the physical therapist points out, a qualified specialist should assess the condition of your feet: detect limited mobility, muscle weakness, or toe misalignment. Based on this evaluation, they will design a simple set of exercises to be performed barefoot at home or in the gym. Special emphasis is placed on strength training without shoes and walking on natural surfaces such as grass or sand. According to him, this provides the foot with essential information and ‘nourishment.’

What results can you expect? Gradually, the muscular framework of the foot will begin to strengthen. Only after this can you increase the distance walked in shoes with thinner soles. The stronger the muscles, the thinner the sole can be. The periosteum becomes stronger, and the quality of the skin and the plantar fascia improve. All structures of the foot become healthier and more resilient for a life without rigid constraints. It is possible that the big toe will return to its proper position, the toes will straighten, and a flattened arch will regain its curve. Cristina Pedroche has already experienced all these positive changes herself, and her example inspires more people to care not only about their own health but also the health of their children. Fortunately, the trend for proper footwear is gaining momentum, and more brands are recognizing the importance of this approach.
