In September 2025, FC Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal officially completed his recovery following a serious knee injury sustained last season. The young player suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear and damage to the lateral meniscus, which required extensive treatment and rehabilitation.
Bernal, who recently turned 18, faced significant challenges. The first weeks after surgery were especially difficult: he was unable to move independently or even perform basic daily activities. According to the footballer, this period truly tested his resilience, but support from his team and loved ones helped him overcome these hardships.
Now, Marc says that the discomfort is behind him. He experiences no pain during training or matches, and thoughts about the injury are gradually fading into the background. The young player admits he was concerned about possible lingering pain, but so far those fears have not materialized.
During his recovery, Bernal benefited from the experience of other footballers who had previously dealt with similar injuries. He notes that advice from senior teammates proved invaluable, especially during the toughest moments when progress seemed too slow.
In a brief interview, Marc shared his preferences and views on football. He expressed admiration for AtlΓ©tico Madrid forward JuliΓ‘n Γlvarez (JuliΓ‘n Γlvarez) and admitted he would like to play against him on the field. Among his teammates, he was most impressed by Frenkie de Jong (Frenkie de Jong), while Pau CubarsΓ (Pau CubarsΓ) and Gerard MartΓn (Gerard MartΓn) have become his closest friends on the team.
Bernal also spoke about his personal interests: he does not like mushrooms, despite being from the BerguedΓ region (BerguedΓ ), where many locals collect them. In addition, he already has a tattoo on his arm and plans to get more, although he has not yet decided on the designs.
Among football stadiums, Marc singles out the Santiago BernabΓ©u (Santiago BernabΓ©u) as the place where he dreams of playing. In the Barcelona dressing room, he considers FermΓn the most cheerful, always lifting the team’s spirits.
Bernal faces a new season and fresh challenges ahead. He aims to secure a place in the starting lineup and continue developing at one of Spain’s leading clubs. Overcoming a serious injury was a key milestone for him, one that strengthened his character and boosted his self-confidence.
