The municipality of Alcoi (Alicante province) has found itself at the center of a major scandal after it emerged that footage shot in the city cemetery was used in a gay porn film. City authorities stated that no permission had been granted for such filming, and that the production company provided false information about the purpose of their visit to the cemetery. Outrage grew after it was revealed that the filming took place at the grave of the famous singer Camilo Sesto, which many believe violates moral and cultural norms.
In an official statement, the municipality emphasized that no scenes of a sexual nature were filmed in the cemetery, but that the footage was later included in an adult film. Representatives from the administration claim that the producers had completed all necessary paperwork, indicating they intended to film mourning and reflection scenes for a web series allegedly set to appear on YouTube. As is well known, YouTube prohibits adult content, which officials say ruled out the possibility of the footage being used in such a way.
Deception and reaction from the authorities
Authorities in Alcoy noted that the production company had previously filmed for wineries and local government bodies, and that its portfolio contained nothing that might raise suspicions. However, it was later discovered that the firm was selling the footage to third parties without notifying city officials. The municipality believes the producers deliberately concealed the true purpose of the shoot to gain access to the cemetery grounds.
City officials are now considering possible legal action against the company. According to municipal representatives, every effort will be made to establish accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future. Special attention is planned for tightening regulations on permits for filming in public and historically significant locations.
Political conflict
The situation took on a political dimension after the local Partido Popular accused Alcoy mayor Toni Francés of allowing an adult film to be shot in the cemetery. Representatives of the ruling PSPV and Compromís coalition categorically rejected these accusations, stressing that no sexual scenes were involved and that any such requests would have been immediately denied.
Officials also condemned attempts to use this incident for political attacks, stating that such actions damage the city’s reputation, the memory of Camilo Sesto, and the cemetery itself. They emphasized that exploiting this issue is unacceptable, especially when it concerns sensitive matters like respecting the memory of prominent individuals and preserving cultural heritage.
Changes to the regulations
In response to the incident, the municipality plans to review and tighten local regulations governing filming and audiovisual production within the city. In particular, additional oversight measures are being considered regarding how recorded materials are used, along with stricter requirements for companies applying to film in public spaces.
According to Lorena Zamorano, head of tourism in Alcoy, authorities will seek maximum transparency and accountability from all those who receive filming permits. She stressed that the new rules should protect the city from such abuses and maintain respect for historical and cultural sites.
Administration’s position
The municipality of Alcoy insists that all actions by the Film Office were appropriate and that the filming application contained no indications of potential violations. Officials emphasize their commitment to protecting the dignity of public spaces and the city’s historical heritage. New measures are expected soon to help prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
Meanwhile, footage filmed at the cemetery has already been posted on popular adult platforms, sparking a wave of debate and outrage among city residents and fans of Camilo Sesto. Authorities are continuing their investigation and have vowed to see the case through to the end.
