A large-scale program to support local shops and businesses is launching in Cádiz, directly impacting residents’ wallets and invigorating the regional economy. Authorities have allocated a significant sum for digital vouchers to encourage spending in 45 municipalities across the province. This initiative is especially important amidst rising prices and shifting consumer habits, as it enables thousands of families to purchase more goods and services for less money.
According to El Confidencial, the new phase of the “Cádiz Vale Más 2026” program provides for the issuance of electronic vouchers offering substantial benefits when paying in shops, markets, and dining establishments. The concept is simple: for every €20 spent, customers pay only €10, with the remainder subsidized by a special fund. A total of €800,000 has been allocated for this purpose, and vouchers will be available from February 23 via the official website.
Terms and limits
Each participant is entitled to up to five vouchers of €10 each, amounting to a total discount of €50. To receive them, you need to register on the digital platform, after which the system will issue QR codes for payment at participating locations. It’s important to note: vouchers are valid for only seven days from the date of issue, and if not used, they return to the general pool for other applicants.
The distribution of funds depends on the size of the locality. Cities with populations over 40,000 received €459,000, while other municipalities received €341,000. There is a limit for businesses: no more than 800 vouchers per retail outlet. This year, 1,272 businesses are participating in the program, including shops, markets, and cafes.
Step-by-step guide
Applications are accepted starting February 23, and the process is fully online. First, you need to register on the website, confirm your details, and receive five vouchers. They can be used in any city within the province if the selected shop or café is part of the program. Before making a purchase, it is recommended to check on the website whether vouchers are still available at your chosen location.
Vouchers are non-transferable and can only be used within one week. If the deadline passes, unused discounts are automatically returned to the system. This approach allows more residents to benefit from support, while helping businesses to evenly distribute customer flow.
Impact on the economy
The initiative aims to boost trade and support small businesses, which are particularly vulnerable to economic fluctuations. The program benefits not only buyers, but also entrepreneurs by increasing turnover and attracting new customers. According to El Confidencial, similar measures proved highly effective last year: demand for goods and services in Cádiz rose significantly, and the number of participating shops and cafés increased.
In recent years, similar programs supporting consumers and small businesses have become increasingly popular across various regions of Spain. For instance, Andalusia and Valencia have launched comparable schemes with electronic vouchers, enabling residents to save on everyday expenses. As a result, local markets and shops have seen an influx of customers, and family budgets have benefited from noticeable relief. In Cádiz, this initiative has already sparked excitement more than once: in previous seasons, vouchers were snapped up within hours, while business owners reported increased revenue and growing interest in their products and services.
