Cala Fornells in Mallorca: A Beach with Crystal-Clear Water and a Secluded Atmosphere

¿Dónde encontrar el lugar ideal para hacer esnórquel y relajarse en las Islas Baleares?

Cala Fornells is a small bay in the southwest of Mallorca, renowned for its clear water, white sand, and picturesque natural surroundings. This spot is perfect for snorkeling, diving, and tranquil beach relaxation away from the bustling resorts. Find out how to get there and what awaits visitors on this unique stretch of coastline.

On the southwest coast of Mallorca lies Cala Fornells—a cozy cove that attracts tourists with its crystal-clear water, white sand, and harmony with nature. The beach, about 80 meters long, is located within the so-called ‘triangle of virtue’, which also includes the beaches of Caló de ses Llises and Caló d’en Monjo.

Cala Fornells is surrounded by pine trees and rocks, creating a sense of seclusion despite the proximity of hotels, residential buildings, and restaurants. Here you can not only bask in the sun, but also use the artificial solarium located next to the beach.

Panoramic views from Punta de na Sardana offer picturesque landscapes, including the nearby beaches of Peguera and Santa Ponsa, as well as Caló de ses Llises. Despite its well-developed tourist infrastructure, Cala Fornells maintains a peaceful atmosphere and cleanliness, which is especially appreciated by visitors who prefer to relax away from large crowds.

Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts will find ideal conditions here: the clear water and varied seafloor allow you to observe marine life. For those who prefer active recreation on land, there are hiking trails in the surrounding area, where you can enjoy nature and tranquility.

Cala Fornells beach is also noteworthy for its location at the border of two municipalities, giving the area a unique character. Along the coast, restaurants and cafés offer local cuisine as well as a full range of tourist services.

For yachtsmen and boat owners, Cala Fornells is accessible for vessels in east, southeast, and south winds. However, for safer anchorage, it is recommended to use the neighboring beach, Caló de ses Llises, which offers better protection from waves. The Santa Ponsa Yacht Club is just two and a half nautical miles away, making it convenient for boating enthusiasts.

The beach’s cleanliness and well-groomed appearance are the result of respect for nature and the absence of mass tourism. This spot is chosen by those who value harmony with the environment and prefer to relax in a tranquil setting.

You can get to Cala Fornells by car or public transport. The drive takes about 30 minutes from Palma via the Ma-1 highway, with a convenient exit onto Toni Munar Cerda street and then along Carrer de la Talaia directly to the bay. There are free parking areas near the beach, making access easier for motorists.

For those who prefer the bus, route number 102 brings passengers close to the beach in about an hour. From the stop, it’s around a 15-minute walk through picturesque surroundings to the shore.

Cala Fornells is an excellent choice for those looking for a combination of natural beauty, clear sea, and developed infrastructure—without the bustle of large resorts. Here, you can enjoy the sea, sample local cuisine, and simply unwind in the shade of pine trees while soaking up the genuine atmosphere of Mallorca.
