In Andalusia, at the Rumblar reservoir in the municipality of Baños de la Encina, a fatal accident occurred. On Thursday around 17:15, while carrying out underwater work at the dam, one of the divers, a native of Cantabria, suddenly lost consciousness underwater.
A colleague noticed the lack of movement, quickly brought the victim to the surface, and immediately called emergency services. Officers from the Civil Guard, local police, and medical teams arrived on the scene. Despite all their efforts, the doctors could only confirm the man’s death.
As a result of the tragedy, representatives from the labor inspection and occupational safety specialists were also notified. An investigation is now underway to determine whether all necessary safety measures were followed during the work at the site.
The deceased was a professional diver with experience on similar sites. His death came as a shock to colleagues and local residents. Authorities have expressed their condolences to his family and loved ones, and remind everyone of the importance of strictly following safety protocols during hazardous work.
