Ford is once again embracing its legendary heritage by unveiling a special edition of the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover, called the California Special. This model will be available to customers in spring 2026 and has already attracted interest from fans of the brand thanks to its blend of historic motifs and modern solutions.
The California Special story began in the late 1960s, when dealers in California proposed creating a unique Mustang modification for the local market. In 1968, the first batch of cars was released, featuring distinctive exterior elements and a limited production run. More than fifty years later, Ford returns to this concept, reimagining it for the current era.
The new edition stands out with a sleek design and fresh touches. At the center is an original body color—Adriatic Blue—developed exclusively for this series. The shade recalls the shimmering waves along the California coast, shifting from light to deep blue-violet tones. Designers paid attention to the details: 20-inch wheels with a gray finish and GT/CS logos, a smoked-out grille, and a unique hood graphic symbolizing a California sunset.
The interior features premium materials and advanced technology. The seats are upholstered in Navy Pier ActiveX and Miko, with contrasting blue and silver inserts. This color theme continues on the steering wheel and center console, with signature stitching adding a personal touch to the cabin. Every element is selected to create an atmosphere of comfort and exclusivity.
The technical specifications match the impressive exterior. The electric car is based on the GT version and delivers 487 horsepower with 950 Nm of torque. Its range reaches up to 515 kilometers, making it suitable for daily commutes as well as long-distance journeys, all without harming the environment.
The California Special was developed with input from the Mustang owners’ community. Designers attended themed shows and events to observe trends in tuning and customization. These insights formed the basis for a number of stylistic decisions, including wheel design and color accents.
The launch of the new Mustang Mach-E version highlights Ford’s commitment to fusing brand heritage with innovation. The California Special will serve not only as a tribute to the past, but also as a symbol of the transition to eco-friendly transport, while preserving the distinctive character of this legendary model.
