A tragic incident occurred in the city of Alzira, located in the province of Valencia: a six-year-old girl died after visiting a private dental clinic, while a four-year-old patient, who was also treated at the same facility, was urgently hospitalized and is now under medical supervision.
Events unfolded rapidly. On Thursday afternoon, a six-year-old girl in cardiac arrest was admitted to the emergency department of Hospital de la Ribera. According to medical staff, she had recently undergone a dental procedure at a private clinic. Despite all efforts by doctors, the child could not be saved.
Earlier that same day, another girl, just four years old, was brought to the hospital. She had also visited the same dental clinic that morning. She developed a high fever, vomiting, and pronounced drowsiness. After providing initial care, doctors decided to transfer her to the intensive care unit of the children’s clinic at Hospital Clínico Universitario de Valencia, where she remains under specialist supervision.
Regional authorities responded swiftly to the incident. The Valencia Department of Health suspended the operations of the private dental clinic that had treated both girls. At the same time, an official investigation has been launched to clarify all the circumstances and determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
According to the dentist who treated the deceased girl, the procedure did not involve any surgical intervention: an intravenous catheter was inserted to help her relax, after which she left the clinic in satisfactory condition. However, her condition deteriorated sharply some time later. Special attention is now being given to checking the batch of medical drugs used during the treatment, to rule out possible contamination or dosage error.
Experts note that such cases are extremely rare, especially when complications arise not immediately, but some time after leaving the clinic. Usually, side effects from the medications used appear instantly, allowing doctors to respond quickly. In this case, specialists are not ruling out the possibility of bacterial infection or an individual reaction to the drug; however, final conclusions will only be made after all tests are completed.
A notice appeared on the door of the clinic where the incident occurred, announcing a temporary closure due to reasons beyond the management’s control. According to local media, the head of the facility has worked there for several years, and no such incidents have been recorded previously.
Investigative authorities are currently conducting a thorough review of all circumstances related to the medical care provided to both girls. Medical records are being analyzed, clinic staff are being interviewed, and the medications used during the procedures are under examination. The results of the investigation are expected to help determine the causes of the tragedy and prevent similar incidents in the future.
