Changes in Telecinco’s Prime-Time Lineup
At the start of November, Telecinco attempted to refresh its evening schedule, betting on popular reality shows. After the conclusion of Supervivientes All Stars 2025, which was won by Rubén Torres, the network redistributed key slots: Monday was given to La isla de las tentaciones 9, while Thursday was assigned to Gran Hermano 20. These programs were expected to help stabilize ratings at the end of the year.
Premiere fails to meet expectations
However, the launch of the new Gran Hermano season proved disappointing for Telecinco’s management. For the first time in the show’s history, its premiere failed to attract even a million viewers. The evening episode, which kicked off with a brief segment at 21:45, lost out to competitors: El Hormiguero and La Revuelta drew a significantly bigger audience. Gran Hermano 20’s share at that time was just 8.7%, noticeably lower than other programs airing in the same slot.
Comparison with previous seasons and competitors
The main part of the broadcast, which began closer to midnight, also failed to deliver success. The share reached 15.8%, and the audience didn’t exceed 889,000 viewers. By comparison, last year’s season opener attracted 1.05 million people and a 17.4% share, which was already considered a record low. This time, the figures were even weaker, although Gran Hermano 20 still managed to beat Futuro imperfecto on La 1 in direct competition for share. Other rivals, like Horizonte and La encrucijada on Antena 3, also showed steady but unremarkable results.
Impact on Telecinco’s overall ratings
Despite a slow start, Gran Hermano 20 helped Telecinco slightly improve its daily average ratings, raising them by 6.1 points. However, the general trend of declining interest in reality TV shows on this channel persists. Telecinco management continues to look for new formats and approaches to regain its former ratings positions, but for now, the situation remains challenging.
