In August 2025, Spain continues to experience unusually high temperatures. According to the State Meteorological Agency, the heat that began at the start of the month will persist at least until mid-August, and in some regions, even longer.
From August 3 to August 14, most provinces in the country are seeing extreme temperature readings. In certain areas, thermometers are once again reaching 40 degrees. The heat is especially intense in the central and southern regions, where it is most strongly felt.
After August 14, a slight drop in temperatures is expected; however, the values will remain above average for this time of year. The Canary Islands are also experiencing abnormally warm weather, with temperatures exceeding the usual August levels.
There will be little precipitation in the coming weeks. Rain is unlikely across most of the country, but localized thunderstorms and brief downpours are possible in the northern part of the Iberian Peninsula. Central and southern regions are not expected to see any significant rainfall.
In the second half of the month, starting August 18, forecasters once again expect temperatures to exceed seasonal norms across nearly all of Spain, except for southwestern areas. The Balearic Islands will also remain hot, with temperatures above average for this period.
As for precipitation, forecasts remain uncertain. Some isolated showers are possible in inland areas of the peninsula, but overall, August will remain a dry month across most regions.
According to preliminary data, temperatures across most regions could approach seasonal averages in the final week of August. However, the heat may persist longer in the northeastern regions and the Balearic Islands. No significant rainfall is expected in central and southern Spain.
Thus, August 2025 in Spain is marked by persistent heat and a shortage of precipitation. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions in high temperatures and follow updates from the meteorological service.
