The updated Kia Sportage 2026 has made its national debut in Spain—a flagship model that has consistently ranked among the leaders in the compact crossover segment. The latest version features significant updates to its exterior, equipment, and digital capabilities, aiming to maintain its competitive edge in the crowded SUV market.
The car’s appearance has become more striking: redesigned bumpers, the signature grille, and distinctive LED lighting all give the Sportage a modern and instantly recognizable look. The new lighting design is especially impressive at night, making the vehicle stand out after dark.
The crossover’s interior has also been revamped. Higher-quality materials are used throughout, and the centerpiece is a pair of curved 12.3-inch displays. Both graphics and system responsiveness have been noticeably improved, while the cabin ergonomics are even more user-friendly. For the first time, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available for the model, along with enhanced online services via the Kia Connect platform. The new Feature-on-Demand function allows owners to add extra services, including multimedia entertainment, setting the Sportage apart from its competitors.
During a test drive on the Alcobendas–Toledo route, the HEV hybrid version proved to be a balanced and comfortable vehicle. The powertrain, based on a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor, delivers smooth acceleration and low noise levels. On high-speed stretches, the crossover exhibits stability and excellent sound insulation. Average fuel consumption was 6.8 liters per 100 km, which is considered a solid figure for this class of vehicle.
There have been changes to the engine lineup: the mild-hybrid petrol version is no longer available, and MHEV technology is now offered only for the diesel. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid models remain in the range, allowing buyers to choose the optimal balance of power and efficiency.
Spaciousness is one of the main advantages of the Sportage. Rear passengers have over a meter of legroom, and boot capacity reaches 587 liters, expanding to 1,776 liters with the seats folded down. Hybrid versions feature a double floor, making it even more convenient for transporting luggage. Eco-friendly materials are used in the interior, including Dinamica microfiber with a high percentage of recycled polyester.
Safety has also reached a new level: the car features advanced driver-assistance systems, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as the HDA 2 highway driving assist, which maintains speed, keeps the vehicle in its lane, and assists during lane changes.
The base petrol version in Spain starts at €28,760. The diesel model with MHEV technology is priced at around €38,180. The HEV hybrid starts at €31,980, while the all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid PHEV with an eco-friendly status costs just over €46,000. As a result, the updated Sportage offers a wide range of trims and technologies, maintaining its status as one of the most attractive SUVs on the market.
The refreshed Kia Sportage 2026 is a confident step forward in design, features, and comfort, allowing it to remain among the segment leaders and meet the expectations of European buyers.
