In recent years, many car manufacturers have been actively developing electric vehicles, but Lamborghini has taken a different approach. Company executives point out that their audience does not yet see electric cars as a full-fledged replacement for traditional models. Despite the overall shift towards electrification, the brand is in no hurry to abandon hybrid technologies.
According to the CEO, the company has no plans to launch fully electric cars in the near future. The reason is that interest in electric vehicles among Lamborghini buyers remains low. At the same time, demand for hybrid versions, such as the Revuelto and Urus SE, continues to grow, as evidenced by the strong sales of these models.
Management notes that the electric car market has slowed down in recent months. While sales had been growing rapidly just a few years ago, growth rates have now noticeably declined. This is especially clear in the premium segment, where customers have special demands for power, design, and unique features.
In 2023, Lamborghini unveiled a prototype electric car, but the launch of the production model was postponed. The company decided to focus on improving hybrid technologies, emphasizing lower CO2 emissions and enhanced performance of new models. This approach has maintained customer interest and strengthened the brand’s position in the market.
In the coming years, Lamborghini will continue to expand its hybrid lineup. The next generation of the Urus SUV will feature a plug-in hybrid engine, set to launch in 2029. Company executives are confident there will be enough time to assess market changes and decide whether to produce electric vehicles if demand increases.
Thus, Lamborghini is focusing on hybrid technologies, considering them the best option for its customers under current conditions. The company is closely monitoring market developments and is prepared to adapt to new demands, but for now, sees no need to fully switch to electric vehicles.
