In autumn 2025, Lavapiés once again becomes the epicenter of city life as it hosts the fifteenth Tapapiés festival. From October 16 to 26, the neighborhood’s streets will fill with the aromas of freshly made tapas and the sounds of music from all genres. More than 90 bars, restaurants, and markets will invite locals and visitors to sample original snacks inspired by global cuisines. Each serving is accompanied by a drink, and prices remain accessible — €3.50 per set.
Last year, the event attracted a record crowd of over 90,000 people, and the number of tapas sold surpassed 300,000. These figures speak for themselves: Tapapiés has long been more than just a gourmet route and is truly a celebration for everyone who enjoys the vibrant atmosphere of street festivals and discovering new flavors.
The musical lineup at Tapapiés 2025 promises to be just as dynamic. Stages set up on Ana Diosdado, Arturo Barea, Lavapiés, Cascorro, and Nelson Mandela squares will feature bands and performers representing jazz, blues, rock, Brazilian rhythms, and much more. Among the headliners are The Lighthouse Keepers with their Irish folk, and Bossa Pra Você, bringing a taste of bossa nova to Madrid. The program also includes Slide Guitar Experience, The Teethless, Alberto Menes & Alex Caporuscio, Borogodo, and others. Each day of the festival offers new concerts where music and street food create a unique atmosphere.
The gastronomic aspect isn’t limited to tastings: venues compete for the title of best tapa. Winners receive cash prizes: €2,000 for the “Golden Eagle,” €1,500 for the jury’s choice, and €300 in vouchers for the public’s favorite. The results will be announced on October 27 at San Fernando Market, which will be one of the festival’s main venues.
For families with children, organizers have prepared a separate program: street parades, storytelling, and magic shows. Tapapiés has long become more than just a culinary event—it’s now a celebration for all ages. The area is easy to reach by metro: Lavapiés, Antón Martín, and Embajadores stations are all within walking distance of the main locations. The official map lets visitors choose interesting bars and concerts ahead of time, and vote for their favorite dish.
Each year, Tapapiés highlights the multicultural flair of Lavapiés: traditions from different countries converge here, and street food and music serve as a common language for everyone. This October, the neighborhood will once again prove that Madrid excels at surprising and bringing people together around simple pleasures—good food, live music, and a friendly atmosphere.
