On Friday evening in the Hortaleza district of Madrid, a disturbing incident occurred: three minors under the care of a migrant reception center were attacked with pepper spray. According to police reports, around 8:15 p.m., a car approached the shelter and an unidentified man, without leaving his vehicle, sprayed an irritant substance towards the teenagers.
Staff members at the center noticed the incident and immediately called emergency services. Medical personnel and police patrols arrived at the scene. One of the teenagers complained of severe burning in his eyes, but serious consequences were avoided as medical assistance was provided on site and hospitalization was not necessary. The other two suffered only a minor fright and mild discomfort.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. At this time, the assailant has not been identified, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Law enforcement is interviewing possible witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage to determine all the circumstances and apprehend the perpetrator.
The incident has raised concerns among center staff and local residents. This is not the first time aggression against underage migrants has been reported in the Hortaleza district, highlighting the need for increased security around such facilities. City authorities have pledged to take additional steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
