In Marbella, law enforcement officers have arrested a local police officer, his former colleague, and another man. All three are suspected of a daring attack on a Chinese businessman that took place in Málaga. According to investigators, the assailants tried to kidnap the man, but when he resisted, they beat him and stole a bag containing 4,000 euros.
The incident occurred in November last year at a beauty salon in the Cruz del Humilladero district of Málaga. The businessman had come for a haircut, unaware he was being followed. The criminals had previously placed a tracking device on his car to monitor his movements. At the time of the attack, the men were in plain clothes but had police badges hanging from their necks. They tried to stage an arrest by threatening the victim with a handgun and attempted to force him out of the premises.
However, the plan failed: the businessman actively fought back. As a result, the attackers were unable to kidnap him, but they beat him and stole his bag containing money. The perpetrators then fled the scene, and the victim reported the incident to the police.
The investigation was taken over by the robbery unit. They quickly identified the suspects using security camera footage and facial recognition. Recordings from other cameras were also analyzed, which helped trace the perpetrators’ escape route.
During an operation called Sifu, searches were conducted in the homes of two suspects in Marbella. As a result, police seized clothing believed to have been worn during the attack, as well as ammunition and mobile phones. Special attention was drawn to three pistols, radios, handcuffs, and police badges found in the trunk of a car belonging to a foreign national who is often out of the country. The car keys had been entrusted to his neighbor—a serving police officer. Investigators believe the vehicle was used as a stash for storing weapons.
All three detainees were brought before a court, where they were ordered to remain in custody. The case is being handled by the Fifth Investigative Court of Málaga. Authorities are currently searching for other possible suspects involved in the attack, and the investigation remains ongoing.
