Princessa de Girona Foundation Launches 2029 Strategy to Support Youth

Catalonia, Girona, and Ibero-America: New Horizons for Young Talent

The Princessa de Girona Foundation has approved its roadmap through 2029, focusing on youth support and strengthening ties with Catalonia, Girona, and Ibero-America. Discover what changes await young professionals.

The Princess of Girona Foundation (Fundación Princesa de Girona), chaired by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, has outlined its development strategy for the next four years. At a meeting of the board of trustees, a strategic plan was approved for the period from 2026 to 2029. The main objective is to transform the organization into a leading platform for discovering and supporting young talent, with a special focus on Catalonia, Girona, and Ibero-American countries.

This year, three new companies joined the board of trustees, strengthening the foundation’s presence in the business community. The plans include not only deepening ties with Spain’s regions but also expanding international cooperation. The foundation aims to become a hub for young people seeking growth and new opportunities.

Key initiatives

One of the highlights will be the return of the Princess of Girona Awards ceremony to the renowned Liceu theater (Liceu) in Barcelona. The event is scheduled for July 14, 2026. On this day, young people who have demonstrated outstanding abilities, creativity, and perseverance will be recognized. Winners will receive prizes of €20,000, and the ceremony will take place in the presence of the royal family, including Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía.

The foundation will continue to develop the Tour del Talento project—a large-scale series of events that bring together young people and businesses. In 2026, the tour will kick off in the cities of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Viladecans, Gavà, and Castelldefels, before moving to Huesca, Alcalá de Henares, Granada, and Murcia. Each city will host meetings, workshops, and presentations aimed at building strong connections between young professionals and companies.

The foundation’s new projects

The strategic plan includes the creation of the Princess of Girona Observatory—an analytical center dedicated to gathering and analyzing information on issues and trends among young people. The Observatory will serve as an open resource, publishing reports and research to help identify the most pressing needs of young people and forecast changes in the job market and society.

The foundation also plans to make a lasting impact in every city visited by Tour del Talento. Organizers emphasize that over the past four years, the project has evolved from a series of events into a platform for sharing experiences and creating new opportunities for young people.

Expanding partnerships

This year, Grifols, NTT Data, and Amazon Web Services joined the foundation’s board of trustees. The board now has 110 members, reflecting growing business interest in supporting youth initiatives. The new partners will bring additional resources and expertise, enabling the foundation to launch even more ambitious projects.

In the coming years, the foundation will focus on developing international ties, especially with Ibero-America. This opens new opportunities for young Spaniards looking to build careers abroad, as well as for foreign professionals seeking to realize their potential in Spain.

Plans for the Future

By 2029, when the foundation celebrates its 20th anniversary, the organization aims to become a key player in youth support not only in Spain but also internationally. Plans include launching new educational programs, expanding its network of partners, and conducting large-scale research to help shape youth policy.

An important part of the strategy remains working with the regions. The foundation intends to strengthen ties with Catalonia and Girona and to foster cooperation with cities hosting the Tour del Talento. Special attention will be paid to creating opportunities for youth empowerment and developing entrepreneurial initiatives.

If you didn’t know, the Princess of Girona Foundation was established in 2009 to support young people in their professional and personal development. Each year, the organization awards achievements in various fields and implements educational and social projects throughout Spain. The foundation’s board of trustees brings together representatives from business, science, and culture, and its activities are overseen by the royal family.
