Spanish travelers have a rare chance to save on European trips: Renfe has launched a major promotion, offering a 15% discount on Eurail and Interrail tickets. This decision opens up new possibilities for those planning to travel around Europe in 2026 and could significantly impact the plans of thousands of families and young people in Spain.
The discount applies to all types of passes, including both first and second class tickets, and is valid until March 31. Travelers can take advantage of the special offer through Renfe’s official partners, as well as on the company’s website and at station ticket offices. According to RUSSPAIN, tickets purchased during this promotional period allow travelers to start their journey within 11 months of purchase, providing flexibility when planning their routes.
New routes and terms
As part of the promotion, Renfe is expanding the range of available destinations. Passengers can now choose from more than 30,000 European cities, as well as benefit from new routes such as the Warsaw-Krakow-Prague line. This route became possible thanks to the Czech company Leo Express, in which Renfe has held a stake since 2021. As of March 1, Leo Express began operating in Poland, and from June 25 the number of trips between Warsaw and Krakow will double due to high demand in the Polish market.
Renfe will also increase the number of trains on the Warsaw-Krakow route to four in each direction, and an additional frequency will be introduced on the line to Prague. This will allow Spanish tourists and residents of Europe to travel faster and more conveniently to popular Central European cities without overpaying for tickets.
Benefits for different categories of passengers
Passengers of all ages can take advantage of the offer: special fares are available for youth, adults, and seniors. Families with children benefit from a special deal—two children aged 4 to 11 can travel for free when accompanied by an adult. This makes travel across Europe even more accessible for Spanish families, especially as airfares and hotel prices continue to rise.
Interrail promo passes are available only to European citizens and residents, while Eurail is for travelers from outside Europe. All tickets participating in the promotion are marked with a special ‘Promotional Pass’ label. Holders of existing Interrail passes retain the right to receive additional discounts and bonuses from partner companies.
Where to buy and how to use your pass
Tickets can be purchased on the Renfe website, at station ticket offices, and through authorized agencies. For Interrail passes, you will need to provide proof of European citizenship or residency. Eurail is intended for tourists without European citizenship. According to RUSSPAIN.COM, these conditions allow travelers to plan their trips flexibly and choose the most cost-effective routes across the continent.
In recent years, European railways have increasingly offered seasonal discounts and expanded their route networks. In 2025, similar promotions enabled thousands of Spaniards to discover new cities and countries, driving an 18% increase in demand for Interrail and Eurail tickets. The introduction of new routes, such as Warsaw-Krakow-Prague, reflects the trend toward developing rail connections in Central and Eastern Europe. In the coming months, further growth in the number of routes and special offers for travelers from Spain and other EU countries is expected.
