In Seville, one of the city’s most famous parks was closed to visitors. The municipality ordered the closure of Parque de María Luisa after several dead waterfowl were found there in the past 24 hours. Authorities made the decision immediately to prevent the possible spread of a dangerous infection among animals and people.
City workers have already begun treating the area where the birds’ bodies were discovered. All recovered remains will be sent for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause of death. Until specialists receive the test results, the park will remain closed to both residents and visitors.
This is the fourth such incident in Seville in recent times. Previously, Parque Tamarguillo, the Miraflores green zone, and the famous Jardines de los Reales Alcázares were closed for similar reasons. Authorities emphasize that public safety remains the top priority, and all decisions are made strictly in line with health protocols.
It is still unknown when the park will reopen to visitors. The municipality is urging residents to be understanding about the temporary restrictions and to follow further updates. Tourists planning walks in Seville have to adjust their routes, as Parque de María Luisa is traditionally considered one of the city’s main landmarks.
