After a series of storm warnings and severe consequences from heavy rains that recently affected the Valencian Community, Catalonia, Murcia, and the Balearic Islands, relative calm is returning to Spain. On Wednesday morning, the country wakes up to minimal weather alerts: only some areas of Galicia, Catalonia, and the Balearic Islands remain under a yellow alert.
In the coming days, meteorologists predict the possibility of heavy rainfall in northern Catalonia, especially in the Pyrenees. However, isolated showers may also occur in other mountainous areas in the eastern part of the country. For the rest of Spain, predominantly clear skies and stable atmospheric conditions are expected.
Temperatures will drop slightly, but abnormally warm weather will persist in the west of the peninsula. In cities such as Ourense, Seville, and Cordoba, temperatures will approach 32 degrees, which is considered quite high for this time of year. In other regions, temperatures will be in line with seasonal averages.
Easterly and northeasterly winds will prevail along the coast, especially in Galicia and the Estremadura Strait area, while in the central regions wind will remain light and variable. Cloudy weather is expected in the Canary Islands, but the chance of rain is minimal.
On Thursday and Friday, the weather will remain largely unchanged: precipitation is expected only in Mediterranean areas, the Balearic Islands, and mountainous regions. The west of the country will continue to experience unusually warm weather—temperatures in Badajoz, Córdoba, and Sevilla will exceed 30 degrees, and in southern Galicia, they will approach this mark. In Madrid, the temperature will reach 25 degrees, while in Salamanca and Zamora it will rise to 27.
Saturday will bring slight changes: a front will approach from the northwest, bringing light rain to Galicia, and in some areas, to Asturias and the Cantabrian Mountains. Brief showers are also possible along the Catalan coast. Temperatures will remain steady, but due to southern winds, it will get warmer in the north—with up to 30 degrees expected in Bilbao, Badajoz, Ourense, and Sevilla.
Forecasts become less certain closer to Sunday, but there is a chance that the front will continue moving east, affecting Galicia and northern regions. In Catalonia and along the Mediterranean coast, short showers may return, especially in coastal areas.
