Launch of Roig Arena and its significance for the city
The new large-scale Roig Arena complex has begun operating in Valencia, with construction costs totaling 400 million euros. All expenses were covered by businessman Juan Roig. The complex is expected to contribute up to 150 million euros annually to the city’s economy, with around one million visitors anticipated in its first year.
Transition to operation and management objectives
The five-year construction phase is over, and the complex is now entering full-scale operation. Management emphasizes that the main goal is to ensure financial sustainability and meet public expectations. Revenue will come from renting event spaces, securing major sponsors, and developing the restaurant sector, which has already begun operating.
Urban project and infrastructure improvements
Roig Arena is more than just a venue for concerts and sporting events. It is part of a large initiative to develop the Quatre Carreres district. As part of the project, the new public college Les Arts has already opened, a parking facility has been built, and over 40,000 square meters have been landscaped, including a fan park for the Valencia Basket basketball club.
Juan Roig’s contribution and features of the complex
Special attention has been given to the complex’s technical facilities. Notably, a soundproofing system allows multiple events to take place simultaneously without interference. A significant portion of the budget was allocated to modern technologies and providing comfort for visitors.
Event plans and economic impact
In the near future, 60 different events are scheduled at Roig Arena, with tickets already selling quickly. By the opening, 75% of seats have been sold, and 14 events are fully booked. These include concerts by famous artists and major music awards. It is expected that about a quarter of attendees will come from other regions, providing an additional boost to the city’s revenues.
Jobs and infrastructure
The complex will create approximately 500 jobs, including both permanent and temporary staff for event services. To accommodate guests, new taxi stands have been organized and security arrangements have been coordinated with city services.
Social role and recovery from natural disasters
Roig Arena is intended not only to revitalize the cultural and sports life of Valencia, but also to serve as a symbol of renewal following last year’s natural disasters. Organizers emphasize that the project is focused on long-term development and support for the urban environment.
