In early October 2025, a troubling story unfolded in Mallorca: a young woman from Argentina, who had come to the island at the invitation of a German family for work, suddenly stopped making contact. Her relatives in Buenos Aires have not heard from her for over a week.
The last time 26-year-old Paola Mariana Lens was in touch with her family was on October 14. Since then, all attempts to call or message her have failed. Her family does not hide their concern: they fear her disappearance may be linked to criminal groups involved in human trafficking.
Paola arrived in Spain expecting to find stable employment as a nanny with a German family residing in Mallorca. According to her relatives, she was full of hope and planned to stay on the island for an extended period. However, the sudden loss of contact with her loved ones came as a shock to everyone.
At present, local law enforcement continues the search and is investigating the circumstances of her disappearance. All possible scenarios are being examined, including the likelihood that she may have become a victim of a crime. Paola’s family is actively cooperating with the police and is appealing to the public for assistance in the search.
The situation has sparked widespread reaction both in Spain and Argentina. Many are concerned about the safety of foreign workers coming to the Balearic Islands (Islas Baleares) under private contracts. Issues of transparency in employment and the protection of migrants’ rights have once again come to the forefront.
