While the close relatives of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez are increasingly in the media spotlight due to legal proceedings, one member of his family has managed to stay out of the public eye. This is Miguel Ángel Gómez, the prime minister’s brother-in-law, who, unlike his sister Begoña Gómez and brother-in-law David Sánchez, has not been involved in any legal issues and leads a rather private life.
Miguel Ángel Gómez has built an impressive career in film and television, where he has worked since 2005. He is a sought-after post-production specialist, collaborating with leading production companies such as Globomedia and Morena Films. Since 2018, he has held a key position at Vancouver Media, the company behind globally acclaimed hits. His name appears in the credits of popular series such as “La casa de papel,” “Élite,” “El embarcadero,” and “Las chicas del cable.” He has also contributed to feature films, including “La novia” and “1898: Los últimos de Filipinas.” His responsibilities cover a wide range of tasks, from editing, sound, and music selection to budget oversight and scheduling shoots.
Gómez’s personal life has also drawn attention, although not always for positive reasons. In 2018, he married Fayet Proper, an interior designer from the Netherlands and founder of the Nimú studio. Their wedding, held in the secluded village of Aldeanueva de Cameros in La Rioja, turned into a national event. The reason was the attendance of Pedro Sánchez and Begoña Gómez. The prime minister and his wife arrived at the private celebration in a Super Puma helicopter, accompanied by a convoy of fifty security personnel. Such a massive security deployment for a family gathering sparked a wave of criticism in society and the media, which accused the head of government of misusing public resources.
Despite this episode, the families appear to maintain warm relations. Last summer, Miguel Ángel and Fayet spent their vacation with the Sánchez-Gómez family at the La Mareta residence on the island of Lanzarote. There, they relaxed alongside the prime minister’s daughters and parents, showcasing family unity amid the ongoing political and legal storms surrounding Spain’s leader.
