In recent years, the number of electric vehicles on Spain’s roads has noticeably increased. The introduction of strict environmental regulations in major cities such as Madrid and Barcelona has prompted many drivers to switch to zero-emission vehicles. This shift is driven not only by environmental concerns but also by the desire to avoid potential legal complications.
Amid these changes, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has released a list of electric cars that offer the best value for money and technical features. Special attention was given to driving range, as this remains a key factor for most buyers.
The Peugeot e-208 tops the list. This model is equipped with a 51 kWh battery, allowing it to travel up to 410 km on a single charge. The engine produces 156 hp, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds and a top speed limited to 150 km/h. Fast charging up to 100 kW allows the battery to be recharged from 20% to 80% in just 20-25 minutes. The car costs €29,800.
The second spot goes to the compact Yudo 3 from a Chinese manufacturer. For €20,000, buyers get a range of 320 km, fast charging in 35 minutes, a top speed of 130-140 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h in 9 seconds.
Third place is taken by the Volkswagen ID.4—a spacious electric crossover designed for long-distance travel. The standard version offers a range of up to 560 km, while the top-end model extends this to 710 km. The engine has an output of 256 hp, and the maximum speed is limited to 160-180 km/h. Prices start at €33,000.
Fourth place goes to the Tesla Model 3. This model is known for its high performance: 460 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds, and a maximum speed of 261 km/h. Its range is 528 km, with prices starting from 40,900 euros.
Rounding out the top five is the BYD Dolphin. This electric car is equipped with a 204 hp motor and can travel 427 km on a single charge. Fast charging at 88 kW allows the battery to go from 30% to 80% in 29 minutes. The top speed is 160 km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds. Prices start at 30,000 euros.
In summary, the Spanish market offers a wide range of electric vehicles to suit different needs and budgets. When choosing a model, experts advise considering not only the price but also real-world range and fast-charging capabilities.
