Asturias

Asturias is an autonomous community in northern Spain on the coast of the Cantabrian Sea. The region is located between the Picos de Europa mountains to the south and the Cantabrian Sea to the north. Asturias is known for its distinctive landscape, featuring lush forests, mountain rivers, coastal scenery, as well as its Celtic heritage and a history that includes Roman settlement ruins, castles, and monasteries. The region also has a rich tradition of mining and metallurgy, which fostered a thriving crafts and metalworking industry. Asturias is famed for its cuisine, including beef with zucchini and turkey, the renowned fabada asturiana—beans in tomato sauce with olives—and sidra, the traditional local cider.
