Regulator documents reveal Apple’s plans
The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published information about several yet-to-be-announced Apple devices. The list includes new laptop and tablet models, as well as a mixed reality headset. These disclosures occur because communication components must undergo mandatory certification before devices enter the market. Typically, documents only list model numbers and brief descriptions, but experts can deduce which devices are being prepared for release based on this data.
Which devices are expected
Among the new products, the MacBook Pro with the M5 processor stands out. The list also features updated MacBook Air models, several versions of the iPad Pro with 11- and 13-inch screens, as well as the Vision Pro headset. Analysts note that the model numbers suggest there will be both Wi-Fi and cellular tablet versions. Specifically, devices with the codes A3357, A3358, A3359, A3360, A3361, and A3362 are mentioned, corresponding to different iPad Pro configurations.
Features of the MacBook Pro M5
The main innovation will be the MacBook Pro powered by the M5 chip. This processor will continue to use the 3-nanometer technology but will feature significant improvements over the M4. In particular, it is expected to introduce System on Integrated Chip (SoIC) technology from TSMC, which allows for multi-layer chip stacking. This approach improves heat dissipation and reduces energy loss. Additionally, Apple has expanded its partnership with TSMC to create next-generation hybrid chips that use a carbon fiber composite.
Initial tests of iPad tablets with a similar processor demonstrate high performance. The MacBook Pro M5 is expected to be available in versions with different chips (standard, Pro, and Max) and with 14- and 16-inch screens. The introduction of OLED displays in Apple laptops is not planned yet—such panels are unlikely to appear before 2026.
Smart Home Integration and Release Timeline
According to FCC data, the new laptops will support the Thread protocol, used to operate smart home devices via the Matter standard. This feature is not yet implemented in the current generation of MacBook Pro, but may appear in future versions of macOS. As a result, integrating home appliances through the Home app will become easier. Sales of the MacBook Pro M5 are expected to begin before the end of this year or at the start of 2026.
