A new season has begun at Real Zaragoza, marked by large-scale personnel changes. At a press conference, sporting director Lalo Arantegui announced the signing of five players, the contract extension with Tachi, and the departure of 26 players at once. The club also presented an updated coaching staff and plans for the coming weeks.
Among the newcomers is left-back Raúl Pereira, who arrived from Cádiz. The 21-year-old signed a four-year contract, with his former club retaining 50% of his rights. Another acquisition is Nigerian defensive midfielder Peter Ademo, previously with Sheriff Tiraspol. He also signed a four-year deal after 40 appearances last year, including European competition.
Confirmed transfers include experienced midfielder Rubén Díez, who recently helped Ceuta gain promotion to Segunda. His contract is for two years with an option to extend. The club also strengthened the attack with 24-year-old Jaume Jardí, who scored 11 goals and provided 5 assists for Nàstic, and goalkeeper Anartz Peña, formerly with Arenas. Jardí will stay with the team until 2029, and Peña signed a two-year deal.
Among those leaving the team are seven loaned players and 19 others whose contracts expired or were terminated following relegation to Primera RFEF. These include Tasende, Insua, Keidi Bare, Sebas Moyano, Raúl Guti, Bekim Bakiç, as well as several others, including those returning from loan or exercising early exit options.
The coaching staff retains Juan Sebastián, Francho, Cuenca, Pinilla, Saidou, Barrachina, Lucas Terrer, Gómez, and Tachi. Returning from loan are Kosa, Liso, Pau Sans, Hugo Carrillo, and Bazdar. There are currently 19 players in the squad, but Lalo Arantegui emphasized that another 9–10 transfers are planned this summer to form a roster of 22–23 footballers.
The coaching staff is headed by Ibai Gómez, with assistants Iñigo Larriketa and David Vinatea. Physical preparation is overseen by Miki Lampré and Pablo Quiles, while the new goalkeeping coach is Javi Roda, who previously worked at Elche. Gómez will be officially presented on Friday.
Pre-season preparation begins on July 16 and 17 with medical examinations, and the first field training sessions will start on July 20 at the Ciudad Deportiva. A friendly against Deportivo Aragón is scheduled for July 24, after which the team will depart for a week-long training camp in Boltanya. Over the six weeks of pre-season, several friendlies will be played, including the traditional Trofeo Ciudad de Zaragoza–Memorial Carlos Lapetra, which will take place on August 8 at the Ibercaja stadium.
