The outlook attributed to AEMET forecast frost inland and heavy rain around the Mediterranean. The report gives no publication date, so its Wednesday-to-weekend forecast cannot be treated as current.

The forecast described in the report included possible rainfall of more than 70 litres per square metre around the Mediterranean within 48 hours, alongside frost across parts of inland Spain. It also warned of downpours capable of bringing 30 litres per square metre in one hour.

But the report gives no publication date or year. Its references to Wednesday, the next 48 hours and the weekend therefore cannot be used as a current forecast. AEMET’s Meteoalerta system issues and updates adverse-weather warnings for periods of up to 72 hours. The figures below are forecasts reported at the time, not confirmation of weather that has since occurred.

The report attributed the outlook to the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET) and Roberto Brasero, the weather presenter on Antena 3. It said temperatures in Molina de Aragón, Guadalajara, could fall to -6°C, with frost expected across more areas of the interior, particularly the northern plateau and Las Parameras de Molina. AEMET’s national forecast service publishes information at national, regional, provincial and island levels, including municipal minimum and maximum temperatures for a two-day period.

Brasero also forecast further rain around the Mediterranean and in Catalonia, with possible heavy showers in Murcia, southern Andalucía and the Almería coast. The outlook included thunderstorms in Ceuta and Melilla. A separate account of migration pressures in Ceuta concerns a different issue.

The report described orange-level AEMET alerts for rainfall that could reach 30 litres per square metre in an hour. It listed areas of Galicia, northeastern Catalonia, eastern Andalucía, the centre of the Valencian Community and Murcia among places under alert. AEMET’s official warning service lists alerts by territory and date, separately from its general forecasts.

For the weekend, the AEMET forecast cited in the report pointed to a deep low-pressure system west of the Peninsula. A front was expected to cross from west to east, bringing cloud to much of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with rain in the northern half. The report also anticipated falling maximum temperatures in the northeast and Balearic Islands, and frost on northern mountain peaks.

It said snow had already been reported in Lleida and across parts of the Sistema Ibérico and Cordillera Cantábrica. AEMET’s observation service records hourly readings as well as extreme and cumulative values at its weather stations, distinguishing recorded conditions from forecast temperatures and rainfall thresholds. Those observations and the short-range forecasts remain undated in the source material.
