The land-registry extract for Therese Jamaa’s Barcelona flat lists a €400,000 mortgage in favour of CaixaBank but does not state the purchase price. El Debate reported that Jamaa, partner of Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares, bought the property on 29 November 2024.
The home has 94 square metres of built area, excluding a 17-square-metre outdoor terrace. Its recorded valuation is €544,330.95, the same figure set as its auction value. Neither amount establishes what Jamaa paid.
The flat is in a six-storey residential building dating from 1900, with a lift. It contains ten homes and two commercial premises. Casa Batlló is about a 10-minute walk away; the Sagrada Familia is 12 minutes away.
Jamaa joined Hispasat’s board in December 2023, eleven months before the purchase. The appointment was approved on 18 December, with Redeia proposing Jamaa as its representative. At the time, Redeia was the parent company of Red Eléctrica, which controlled close to 90% of Hispasat.
The board renewal also made former science minister Pedro Duque president, following a proposal from the Sociedad Estatal de Participaciones Industriales (SEPI). Carlos de la Cruz joined after being proposed by Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI). Hispasat announced the appointments the following day.
Jamaa also owns an 82-square-metre property acquired in 2019 in Barcelona’s Sant Martí district, along with a parking space in the building’s basement. When Jamaa joined the Hispasat board, Juan Bravo, the PP’s economy coordinator, accused Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of using the government as an appointment agency. He also criticised Jamaa’s place on the board of a strategic satellite communications company.
