In Fuensalida, Alejandra Hernández, the Partido Popular spokesperson for Castilla-La Mancha, urged Emiliano García-Page to stop playing politics and put his eight national deputies at Spain’s service. She challenged him to prove what he stands for.
Hernández said that if Page truly stands by his criticism of Pedro Sánchez, he should show it by letting his deputies in Congress support the country, even if that means new elections. The PP’s message was direct: talk must give way to action. The party also cited the Ceuta crisis, recalling that while Page publicly criticized the government, PSOE deputies from his region voted against a PP initiative on the issue in Congress.
Hernández accused Page of using his public attacks on the national government to hide what she called his own mismanagement and lack of rigor in Castilla-La Mancha. The PP’s press release said Page likes to look tough in front of the media but never follows through when it counts.
Tensions between the regional PSOE and the national party have come into the open. The PSOE of Castilla-La Mancha has asked Ferraz to uphold the financing deal signed at the Seville Congress. The regional party is not seeking a break with Sánchez; it is pressuring the party leadership in Madrid to honor the regional financing commitments made at the federal congress in Seville in November 2024. Regional PSOE representatives say the party wants a fair funding model that does not favor any single region and protects public services. Hernández, meanwhile, dismissed Page’s image as a party rebel. She said, “people have already seen through him” and that he “has no credibility.”
Hernández said Page should tell his eight deputies to work for Spain and back a call for elections if he means what he says. “The citizens of this region and our country can’t take any more. What Spaniards need is to vote,” she said.
The clash points to a deeper split inside the PSOE and fits the PP’s push to force regional leaders to take a side on national issues. Hernández’s challenge puts Page on the spot: he can back up his words with action or risk looking like he only talks. These public demands, she argues, test leadership and consistency.
