Veolia has implemented Spain's largest regenerated water project in the Valencian Community: over the past year, the company provided more than 43 million cubic meters for the needs of municipalities, industry, and natural areas. This volume not only helps maintain water supply during droughts but also reduces risks for the environment and agriculture.
In the region, the company manages the entire water supply cycle in nearly a hundred municipalities, including tourist centers facing high water stress. In Benidorm, according to Veolia, the average efficiency of water networks has reached 95%—higher than in most other cities in the country. In critical situations, such as during the heavy rains of autumn 2024, the Hubgrade digital centers in Costa Blanca and Valencia enabled rapid restoration of water supply and minimized the impacts on residents and businesses.
Special attention is given to natural areas: the Guardian system in Turia Park uses regenerated water to reduce the risk of forest fires and protect the ecosystem. In addition, Veolia, together with CETAQUA, is developing the IRIS and Biovera projects aimed at implementing digital solutions and creating green infrastructure to increase resilience to climate change.
In 2025, Veolia in Spain supplied water to more than 13.5 million people, processed over 1.2 million tons of waste, and prevented the emission of 363 thousand tons of CO2 equivalent. In the Valencian Community, the company and its partners received more than 16 million euros from the PERTE state fund for the digitalization of the water sector. These funds are allocated under European recovery programs and are aimed at modernizing infrastructure and increasing environmental safety.
