At €58,400, the i3 40 xDrive costs €9,300 more than a petrol BMW 318 and €4,300 more than a BMW 320. BMW has opened the Spanish market to its first fully electric 3 Series. The more powerful i3 50 xDrive is priced at €63,900. The electric sedan is the second production model on BMW’s Neue Klasse platform, following the iX3.
The entry version produces 275 kW (374 CV) and has an 82.8 kWh battery. BMW quotes up to 710km of WLTP range. For €5,500 more, the 50 xDrive adds 95 CV and a 108.7 kWh battery, with a claimed maximum range of 912km. Those are WLTP figures, not a measure of real-world driving range.
The 50 xDrive also accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds. Its maximum DC charging rate is 400kW. BMW says ten minutes of charging can add enough energy for up to 423km of WLTP range under suitable conditions. The car uses an 800-volt architecture and BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive technology. Independent technical reporting puts a 10–80% DC charge at about 21 minutes.
Against another Neue Klasse model, the i3 40 xDrive is €5,250 cheaper than the iX3 40, which launched at €63,650. The electric Mercedes Clase C starts at €69,800 including taxes, €11,400 above the entry i3 and €5,900 above the 50 xDrive.
BMW Bank’s finance offer for the 40 xDrive starts at €395 a month, with a €12,708.90 deposit and 47 monthly payments over 48 months. The final payment is €35,829.61, more than the combined €18,565 in monthly instalments. The deal carries a 5.99% nominal interest rate and a 6.65% APR, and remains valid until 31 December 2026. At the end of the agreement, customers can return the car subject to the 48-month and 40,000km conditions, or change it. Paying the final amount lets them keep it.
Commercial vehicles sit at a very different price point: a compact-van pricing report put Stellantis models from €21,500 before VAT and transport.
The i3 is the second Neue Klasse model after the iX3. BMW’s Munich plant began series production of the new i3 in August 2026, with first deliveries scheduled from autumn 2026. The company plans to make the factory dedicated to fully electric vehicles from 2027. BMW’s broader Neue Klasse manufacturing programme spans Debrecen, Munich and Dingolfing, as well as Spartanburg and Shenyang. Battery assembly at Irlbach-Straßkirchen will support production in Munich. BMW has committed roughly €2 billion to production of the new 3 Series generation. Under its production allocation, Munich builds the all-electric i3, while Dingolfing is assigned combustion-engine versions of the 3 Series and plug-in hybrids from 2027.
A BMW i3 M60 xDrive M Performance is planned for 2027. BMW has not announced its price.
