The Canary Islands Government ended the rain pre-alert across the archipelago at 20:00 on Wednesday 4 November. The Directorate General for Emergencies said the weather conditions that prompted it had come to an end.

The decision followed updated information from the Agencia Estatal de Meteorología (AEMET) and other sources, the Canary Islands Government said. The regional government had activated the rain pre-alert across the archipelago at 10:00 on Tuesday, 3 November, amid forecasts of locally heavy showers and thunderstorms. The measure followed several days of unstable weather, particularly in the western islands, with significant rainfall and storm activity.

The Directorate General for Emergencies ended the pre-alert across the autonomous community at 20:00 on Wednesday, 4 November. The measure had been issued under the Plan Específico de Emergencias de Canarias por Riesgos de Fenómenos Meteorológicos Adversos (PEFMA), after the weather conditions that justified it came to an end. The pre-alert was a regional emergency-management measure, separate from AEMET’s meteorological warnings.

AEMET had issued a yellow rain warning for all the islands from 11:00 to 20:00 on Wednesday, forecasting up to 15 millimetres of rain in one hour in affected areas. Showers could become locally heavy and stormy, with renewed instability forecast mainly between midday and 19:00 in inland and mountainous areas. The regional pre-alert’s termination at 20:00 coincided with the end of that warning period.

The decision concerns regional emergency management. On Tenerife, the island council also deactivated its island emergency plan at 20:00 after AEMET’s updated forecast no longer included active risk warnings for the island from that time. Seven trails on Teide remained closed. A separate court report covered a judicial complaint at national level.
