Citroën has rolled out the Outdoor series as the new flagship trim for the C3, C3 Aircross, and Ami. The focus is on fresh styling and exclusive details, while the engines and hardware stay the same.
Citroën has put its C3, C3 Aircross, and Ami models in the spotlight with the new Outdoor series. This top trim brings a fresh look, but doesn't add any new mechanical features for those hoping for more off-road power. The strategy is clear: grab attention with design, not with changes under the hood.
The Outdoor badge hints at ruggedness, but the updates are all about looks. The C3 and C3 Aircross get new bumpers with sharper lines and a big grey trim piece that mimics SUV underbody guards. The Aircross adds LED fog lights to its new bumper. Both models show off vertical Infra Rouge accents that stand out against the main Sequoia Green paint, or any of the other colors: Perla Nera Black, Mercury Grey, Banquise White, and Bright Blue.
According to the official Citroën press release, the Outdoor line is positioned above the MAX trim for both C3 and C3 Aircross, marking it as the new flagship in the range.
From the side, you see more Outdoor branding. Grey inserts run along the lower doors, the Outdoor logo is on display, and Migoo—the mascot made for this series—makes its debut. Both cars ride on 17-inch wheels, each with a different design, but both have the Infra Rouge Citroën logo in the center. At the back, another grey trim piece keeps the Outdoor look going from every angle.
Inside, the Outdoor trim sticks with the color theme. The dashboard and seats are mostly green, and the seatbacks have Migoo’s face stitched in. Red details show up on the steering wheel, seatbelts, and stitching, tying the inside to the bold outside. Buyers can pick this trim with any engine: a 100 CV petrol with manual gearbox, a 110 CV mild hybrid, or two electric versions at 113 CV—one with a 30 kWh battery, the other with 44 kWh.
The Citroën Ami Outdoor follows the same idea. It stands out with a Khaki Green body, white steel wheels, pixel-style side graphics with Infrared highlights, and the Migoo mascot on the rear pillar. There’s a small spoiler on the roof, and the closed-body Ami now gets a sunroof, which used to be only on the Buggy. Inside, there’s a new seat color, more Migoo branding, Infrared seatbelts, and a practical accessory pack: dashboard glovebox, bag hook, door pockets, floor mats, a central net, and a smartphone holder. The Ami Outdoor keeps the same mechanics: 8 CV electric motor, 45 km/h top speed, 5.5 kWh battery, and a 70 km range.
European automotive media confirm that the C3 Outdoor and C3 Aircross Outdoor are special editions based on existing trims, not new generations. In the Netherlands, orders are set to open on October 1, with starting prices of €30,950 for the C3 Outdoor and €35,250 for the C3 Aircross Outdoor.
Citroën has not yet announced prices for the Outdoor editions in Spain, so buyers there are still waiting for details. This focus on design over technical upgrades is not just a Citroën move. Other brands have used bold looks to refresh older models, like the recent SEAT 127 hybrid concept that got people talking about affordable innovation.
By leaning into style and exclusive features, Citroën is betting that Spanish drivers care about standing out as much as they care about specs. For those hoping for a real technical upgrade, the Outdoor series might seem like a missed chance. But for buyers who want a car that turns heads in the city or at the school gates, this new trim makes a clear statement. The adventure may be mostly on the surface, but the look is hard to miss.
