The Gordo de la Primitiva lottery put €15 million on the line in Madrid on Sunday night, after the previous draw ended without a jackpot winner. At 21:40 in the Salón de Sorteos, the numbers drawn were 25, 27, 30, 46 and 50, with the basic number 3. The jackpot brought added attention to the combination.
The game is simple: players pick five numbers from 1 to 54 and a basic number (reintegro) from 0 to 9. A basic ticket covers one combination, but players can pay for multiple bets on a single slip, covering 6 to 462 combinations and raising both the cost and the odds. Each bet can win in only one prize category, even if it matches several.
In 2023, Gordo de la Primitiva distributed more than €200 million in prizes across Spain, information from official data from Loterías y Apuestas del Estado.
Of all ticket sales, 55% goes to prizes across eight categories. The top prize, Primera Categoría, is awarded for matching all five numbers plus the basic number. Lower categories pay out for partial matches, with smaller prizes as the number of correct picks drops. Most of the money goes to the rarest combination, though smaller wins are possible for those who come close.
This week’s €15 million jackpot followed a rollover, a common occurrence in Spanish lotteries that raises both the prize and public interest. Loterías y Apuestas del Estado confirms the official results and corrects any reporting errors against its published lists. As reported earlier, Spanish lottery draws are tightly regulated, with oversight and transparency built into every step.
For those new to the game, Gordo de la Primitiva is known for straightforward rules and large prizes. Its two-matrix system keeps the game accessible, while the chance of a life-changing win draws players, especially when a rollover increases the jackpot. The largest Gordo de la Primitiva jackpot ever awarded was €33 million, won in 2011 by a single ticket holder in Madrid, El País reported. The record remains a benchmark for Spanish lotteries and shows the potential scale of winnings.
