A bus plunged down a 20-metre embankment in Fogars de Montclús on Sunday. The SEM reported 83 people treated and seven seriously injured; firefighters resumed searches on Monday to check for anyone else.

At midnight the SEM reported 40 people with minor injuries and 34 whose condition was classed as less serious. Seven were listed as seriously injured. The categories add up to 81, although the overall number treated was reported as 83. A later health-department balance cited by Ara also recorded 83 people treated, with 58 minor injuries, 18 less serious cases and seven serious injuries. No deaths were reported.

The first search around the wreck involved drones and ground crews. Rescue dogs from the Bombers’ Grup Caní de Recerca (GRCR) also checked the area. The teams found no one within several tens of metres of the bus, but Bombers de la Generalitat returned on Monday to search again. The Sagalés bus, carrying more than 80 passengers, had collided with a car on the BV-5114 in Fogars de Montclús, at kilometre 18.4, before going down the embankment. It was operating on a route linking the Fogars de Montclús Information Centre with Santa Fe del Montseny.

Sixteen fire service crews were working around the vehicle by 9.34am. The search is intended to rule out further victims. A complete check will depend on lifting the bus so responders can inspect underneath it. Catalan civil-protection authorities activated a PROCICAT pre-alert as emergency services responded.

A heavy-duty crane is needed to remove the vehicle. The overnight plan was to lift it on Monday; at 8.50am officials said the underside still had to be checked before they could rule out victims entirely.

The bus went down a 20-metre embankment on the BV-5114 in Fogars de Montclús, in Vallès Oriental, on Sunday afternoon, 25 October. The collision involved a private car. Jorge Morales, the SEM’s medical director, said the injuries included multiple trauma and fractures. Some patients needed more detailed assessment at hospital. Bombers said they received the emergency alert at 4.43pm.

Among the seven people classed as seriously injured, two were taken to Hospital Universitari de Girona Dr. Josep Trueta and two to Vall d’Hebron. One was taken to Hospital de Granollers before being transferred to Hospital de Sant Pau, where another injured person was also being treated. One was taken to Consorci Corporació Sanitària Parc Taulí.

The SEM’s response included 33 ambulances and two medical helicopters. Three joint teams involving emergency medical staff and firefighters were activated, alongside three psychological-support teams. The initial deployment reported by emergency services included 15 ambulances and two medically equipped helicopters.

Protecció Civil kept the PROCICAT alert in place. A reception centre was set up in Sant Celoni with Cruz Roja and the SEM.
