Chery has confirmed the six-seat plug-in hybrid for Spain, but has not said when it plans to sell it. Its 620 CV output and 110 km electric-range figure remain preliminary pending market validation.

Chery confirmed the Freelander 8 for Spain at its International User Summit in Wuhu, where it also released the SUV’s first technical details. The six-seat plug-in hybrid is being developed for international markets, but the company has not announced a Spanish launch date or sales plan.

That distinction matters for buyers: the vehicle is still in development, and its published figures are preliminary. Chery says the version shown pairs a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 34 kWh LFP battery and all-wheel lead.

The claimed output is 620 CV and 662 Nm of torque. Chery gives a 0–100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds and an electric range of up to 110 km. The combined range is 886 km. These figures apply to specific international versions and remain subject to homologation and final validation for each market.

Charging details are incomplete. The company says the battery can charge from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes using DC fast charging under most suitable conditions. It has not disclosed the maximum charging power.

The Freelander 8 measures 5.1 metres long and 2.1 metres wide, with a height of 1.9 metres. Some versions will have wheels of up to 22 inches.

Inside, a 46.3-inch 8K display called Surround View Gallery stretches across 1.2 metres of the dashboard. A separate 15.6-inch basic screen uses the Qualcomm SA8295P processor. Selected configurations add a suspended 17.3-inch display for rear passengers. Chery says the cabin retains physical controls for frequently used functions.

There are six seats across three rows, with the third row designed to accommodate adults. Depending on the version, the front First Row Commander Seats sit higher for improved visibility. Second-row seats with a ‘zero-gravity’ design will also be available.

Chery has equipped the SUV for off-road use with the i-ATS (Intelligent All-Terrain System), which will offer up to nine driving modes. The specification also includes dual-chamber air suspension and up to 26.6 centimetres of ground clearance.

Driver assistance is listed as L2+ with more than 30 functions. In selected markets, SIVP (Super Intelligent Valet Parking) is designed to find a space and park the vehicle. It can then return to its driver through a mobile app, within its operating conditions and under driver supervision.

The Spain-bound model joins Chery’s wider expansion in the country, where Omoda and Jaecoo are already present, as is Lepas. The group has also outlined a Spanish arrival for the OMODA X, with 2027 given as its planned year.

Freelander is a British premium vehicle brand developed jointly by JLR and Chery. JLR owns the brand and leads design through a dedicated Freelander centre. Chery contributes technology and industrial capacity, backed by a global supply chain.
