Genesis is entering Spain with a lineup of electric vehicles, starting with the GV60 Magma. The brand is looking to shake up the luxury market by offering speed, comfort, and fast charging across several segments.
Genesis is about to make its mark on Spain’s premium car scene. The brand, Hyundai’s luxury arm, is bringing its first electric models to Spanish roads, and the GV60 Magma is set to lead the way. Spain becomes the seventh European country for Genesis, after the company’s step-by-step rollout through Germany, the UK, Switzerland, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.
The GV60 Magma isn’t just another electric SUV. It’s set to arrive in late 2026 with a starting price of 87,100 euros. Under the hood, it packs up to 650 CV and 790 Nm of torque, launching from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds when Boost mode is on. Genesis built the Magma on the E-GMP platform, the same one used for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. The Magma stands out with a lower, wider body, 21-inch forged wheels, and a custom interior with exclusive seats and a dedicated driving interface. Its 84 kWh battery is rated for 425 kilometers of WLTP range, and ultra-fast charging can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in only 18 minutes. Automotive media report that Boost mode lasts about 15 seconds before power drops back to around 609 CV for normal driving.
The GV60 Magma is the first production Genesis to feature a software-based eight-speed gearshift simulation, delivering virtual gear changes and sound to enhance the sporty driving experience.
For buyers looking for a more affordable option, the standard Genesis GV60 will follow, starting at 55,900 euros. This compact SUV is the first Genesis built on a dedicated EV platform and will arrive with 2025 updates. Buyers can pick between rear-wheel drive (229 CV) or all-wheel drive (up to 490 CV in Performance AWD). The most efficient version claims 561 kilometers of WLTP range, and all models keep the rapid charging system. Inside, a panoramic 27-inch display combines the dashboard and multimedia, showing Genesis’s push for high-tech luxury.
Genesis isn’t stopping with compact SUVs. The GV70 Electrified, starting at 69,400 euros, is aimed at families who want more space and power. The updated version comes with an 84 kWh battery, up to 479 kilometers of WLTP range, and a 19-minute fast charge. Dual motors and all-wheel drive deliver 435 CV, which jumps to 490 CV and 700 Nm with Boost mode, letting the car hit 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. The GV70 also brings in remote parking and V2L, so the battery can power external devices.
For those who prefer sedans, the Genesis G80 Electrified is priced at 77,400 euros. This luxury saloon, sold in Europe with a longer wheelbase, puts a premium on rear passenger comfort and space. It uses a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup with 370 CV and 700 Nm, and a 94.5 kWh battery that supports up to 570 kilometers of WLTP range. Charging from 10 to 80 percent takes at least 25 minutes. The latest update adds a 27-inch screen and options like rear-wheel steering and an advanced comfort package for the second row, though final Spanish specs are still pending.
The GV60 Magma is not only Genesis’s first high-performance production model but also marks the debut of the Magma philosophy, which will shape future sporty models from the brand. The vehicle’s practicality exceeds expectations for its segment, offering up to 670 liters of trunk space with the rear seats up and 1,440 liters when folded, accommodating five passengers.
Genesis has its sights set on the top end of the market, too. The GV90 is due in 2027 as the brand’s flagship electric SUV. Already shown globally, the GV90 features a 123.5 kWh battery, dual motors with 490 kW (about 666 CV) and 800 Nm, and an estimated 500 kilometers of range, though European WLTP certification is still pending. The SUV comes with multi-chamber air suspension and a deployable OLED screen for use when parked. Charging from 10 to 80 percent can be done in 22 minutes under ideal conditions. Genesis notes that European specs may differ from the global version, and Spanish pricing and order dates are still to be announced.
Genesis plans to roll out its cars in Spain through a selective network, focusing on dealerships already working with Hyundai. The first phase will target Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia, setting the stage for a wider push across the country.
This bold entry into Spain’s electric luxury market comes as global competition heats up. BYD, for example, has already made waves with its own electric SUV launches, including the recent surge of the Great Tang SUV. Genesis is betting on a mix of high performance, fast charging, and premium comfort to stand out in a crowded field.
With its arrival, Genesis is bringing a new flavor to Spain’s car market. By targeting several segments and doubling down on electric innovation and luxury, the brand is counting on Spanish drivers to embrace a different kind of premium experience—one that blends speed, technology, and comfort. The next challenge is whether Genesis can turn this ambitious lineup into real sales as competition and consumer demands keep shifting.
