Rockstar Games sets preorder date and reveals GTA 6 editions. The physical version will not include a disc, only a download code. Early buyers get exclusive in-game content.

Rockstar Games has officially announced the opening of preorders for Grand Theft Auto VI, confirming that both the physical and digital editions will be distributed exclusively via download codes, with no physical disc included. This marks a significant shift for one of the industry's most anticipated releases, as players will need to redeem their codes to access the game starting November 12, ahead of the global launch on November 19.

The publisher has also detailed the available editions and their pricing. The Standard Edition is set at $79.99, with the expected euro price ranging from €80 to €90. For those seeking additional content, the Ultimate Edition will be available for $99.99, likely priced between €100 and €110 in Europe. The Ultimate Edition includes a comprehensive package of premium vehicles, weapons, and cosmetics that span the storylines of protagonists Jason and Lucía, offering expanded customization options for characters, vehicles, and weaponry.

Players who reserve any edition of GTA 6 before November 20 will receive the Vintage Vice City pack as a bonus. This exclusive set features items inspired by the neon-lit era of Vice City, reminiscent of the Miami Vice aesthetic. The bonus applies regardless of the edition chosen, providing early adopters with unique in-game content from day one.

Rockstar has released 62 new images showcasing the game's advanced customization features, highlighting the depth of personalization available for characters, vehicles, and weapons. The game is set in Vice City and follows the intertwined stories of Lucía and Jason, promising the most immersive and expansive open-world experience in the Grand Theft Auto series to date.

Preload for GTA 6 will be activated on November 12, allowing players to download the game in advance and ensuring simultaneous access at launch. This approach mirrors recent industry trends, where major releases prioritize digital distribution and early access to manage server loads and enhance the launch experience. The move to a disc-free physical edition reflects broader changes in how blockbuster titles are delivered, a topic that has also surfaced in other entertainment sectors, such as the return of the Brno Circuit to the MotoGP calendar, which was covered in detail in our report on major sporting event scheduling shifts.

Grand Theft Auto VI is being developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. The decision to exclude physical discs aligns with the growing dominance of digital sales in the gaming industry, where convenience and early access are increasingly prioritized. For Spanish players, this means planning for a fully digital launch, with all editions requiring an internet connection for download and activation. The inclusion of exclusive preorder bonuses and the absence of a physical disc may influence purchasing decisions, especially among collectors and those with limited internet access. As the release date approaches, Rockstar's strategy signals a new era for high-profile game launches in Spain and across Europe.
