Spain’s Guardia Civil has received 70 new Renault vans, each outfitted as a mobile office to support accident investigation teams. The vehicles come with dedicated workspaces, autonomous power, and advanced safety features for faster, more effective response at crash scenes.
The Guardia Civil has expanded its accident investigation fleet with 70 new Renault Trucks Trafic Red Edition vans. These vehicles are designed specifically for on-site crash analysis, giving officers the tools they need to start investigations immediately at the scene.
Unlike the recent purchase of off-road vehicles by the Policía Nacional, this update is not about speed or ruggedness. Instead, the focus is on turning each van into a mobile workspace. The rear compartment is fitted with technical furniture and a desk for laptops, printers, and other equipment, so officers can process evidence and paperwork without returning to headquarters.
Renault continues to offer diesel-powered Trafic vans in its commercial lineup for 2026, with multiple Blue dCi engine options still available for specialized service conversions.

The chosen model, the Trafic Red Edition Combi L2H1, is known for its reliability and roomy interior. It runs on a 170 CV diesel engine with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, which helps reduce driver fatigue on the way to accident sites. Each van has a dual-battery electrical system and a 2,000-volt converter, so all electronic equipment stays powered no matter how long the investigation takes or where it happens.
Technology and safety are central to the new fleet. The vans use common rail diesel technology and a Stop&Start system for better efficiency. For officer safety, Renault has added lane keeping support, emergency braking, a camera system that covers all angles—including blind spots—and strong lighting for night work. These features are meant to protect officers and help them gather evidence quickly and accurately.
This upgrade comes as road accident deaths in Spain have risen by 4% during the summer. While the Ministry of the Interior is considering stricter alcohol limits for drivers, these new vans represent a practical investment in investigation capacity. The goal is to help the Guardia Civil respond faster and improve the quality of accident analysis on the spot.
Renault officially unveiled the new generation Trafic Van E-Tech electric at the IAA Transportation show in Hanover, highlighting a major update to the Trafic platform for 2026–2027. The electric version was named Van of the Year 2027 by the IVOTY jury, and Renault has announced that chassis-cab and crew cab variants will follow in 2027.
