RTVE is extending its coverage of the Urda train disaster on Thursday, dropping three programmes from La 1. laSexta has also suspended Zapeando, while Mediaset says its schedules will remain unchanged.

The crash near Urda, Toledo, has left 69 people dead and more than 100 injured. The two high-speed trains collided shortly before 09:00 on 28 October on the Madrid-Seville line, about eight kilometres from Urda’s town centre. Reports said one train struck the rear of the other, sending several carriages down an embankment. Rescue teams kept searching the wreckage as casualty figures rose during the operation. Early totals were described as provisional. Castilla-La Mancha president Emiliano García-Page said 44 victims had been travelling on the Iryo train and 24 on Renfe’s AVE.

The crash’s impact on television schedules continues for a second day, with RTVE making the most extensive changes. La 1 will extend Directo al grano through the afternoon and air a special evening edition of Malas lenguas. The changes remove Valle Salvaje and La Revuelta from the schedule. El perro andaluz is also off air, leaving the channel’s prime time without comedy programming.

The published schedule starts with an Especial informativo at 14:20, followed by Telediario 1 at 15:00. Directo al grano is listed for 16:00, with La Promesa at 18:45. Malas lenguas is scheduled for 19:35, followed by Aquí la Tierra at 20:25. Telediario 2 is set for 20:55, and Malas lenguas noche for 21:55.

At Atresmedia, the schedule change is limited to laSexta. It has suspended Zapeando so Más Vale Tarde can begin earlier, at 15:30. Presented by Iñaki López, the magazine will update coverage of the accident; laSexta Noticias will also focus on the crash. Antena 3 is relying on its news programmes and current-affairs magazines, including Y ahora Sonsoles and Espejo Público.

Mediaset has no changes planned for its channels on Thursday, according to verTele. Telecinco’s morning magazines, La mirada crítica and El programa de AR, aired as normal. Vamos a ver and El tiempo justo also aired as normal, with further details due in its news bulletins. Cuatro is covering the accident through En boca de todos and Todo es mentira. Horizonte and Noticias Cuatro are also covering it. A separate report on Cuatro’s coverage followed the story through En boca de todos.
